Houston Nurse Residency Summer 2022

Hey everyone! I saw that there was a residency thread for Spring but not for Summer 2022. I graduate in March 2022 and I believe a lot of the Summer cohorts begin in June/July. I plan to move to Houston once I've written my NCLEX! Where is everyone considering applying? I am looking at Houston Methodist, Memorial Hermann, MD Anderson Cancer Center and St Lukes. I would also prefer to be at hospitals specifically in the sugar land area so I hope when the time comes theyll have the units I want in certain locations. I would like to be in the PACU! Is there anyone else that wants to work in the PACU as well?

Does Houston Methodist TMC not want new grads or?? They're literally so late and the fact Texas Children's reached out before them is crazy. Even at the prescreening event they were hesitant to give contact info and only said anytime between End of March or April but wouldn't give a date. It's just very weird to me how slowly things are going with rarely any communication. PS: No one ever answers that gradnurse email until you resend your question 3x ???

I know, it's very frustrating. At this point I just want to know if I have a chance or not LOL

Yup agreed. I had my prescreening last week and they said they’d reach out this week for a 2nd interview. Nothing yet. It is only Wednesday but the communication has been a bit disappointing.

I had an interview on Monday with Memorial Hermann’s ICU’s. I have a tour of the unit and shadowing a nurse on Monday. Hopefully that is a promising sign ??

When did they respond back to you? And what unit?

It was at the end of the interview they asked if I can come. They also mentioned what shifts I preferred. The units I interviewed for was SICU and MICU. ?

CONGRATS!! I interviewed for neuro ICU on Monday! Anxious on when I will hear back. I forgot to ask how long they will take to make a decision haha

Thank you! I know I realized after the interview of how long it would take for them to make a decision ? maybe someone here can answer that
