Houston Nurse Residency Summer 2022

Published

Hey everyone! I saw that there was a residency thread for Spring but not for Summer 2022. I graduate in March 2022 and I believe a lot of the Summer cohorts begin in June/July. I plan to move to Houston once I've written my NCLEX! Where is everyone considering applying? I am looking at Houston Methodist, Memorial Hermann, MD Anderson Cancer Center and St Lukes. I would also prefer to be at hospitals specifically in the sugar land area so I hope when the time comes theyll have the units I want in certain locations. I would like to be in the PACU! Is there anyone else that wants to work in the PACU as well?

Specializes in BA, MBA, currently pursuing ABSN.

Are you able to give me some advice on what Ben Taub might be looking for on a resume for a good applicant? Like do they look at GPA, extracurriculars, clinicals, expereince, etc? I'm someone who is interested in applying to a ben taub residency in the future?

I was accepted by HCA and was told additional information will follow. Has anyone received anything from HCA?

I have an interview with St. Luke's.  Is anyone familiar with their interview questions or process?

I received an offer from HCA, but haven't received any additional info after receiving notice of an offer

@Lola @studentrn412 did yall get a phone call and got the unit you wanted? I got a voicemail but could not get a hold of my recruiter since I had class!

No.  Nothing yet. I received notification of my acceptance last week, but no phone call.  When did you get accepted?  Did you get the unit you wanted?

I got a phone call today and got the unit I wanted (mother-baby)! I told them I need more time since I'm still waiting on TCH/ CMH

Congratulations! I just got an email today with the unit that I want it!  What did they say when you asked for more time?

Thank you! Initially, they told me I have 48 hrs to accept but I told them I'm still waiting on other hospitals so for now they're writing that down under my name but im not sure bc I may need to do another interview/possibly be able to pick up where I left off if there's still some spots left for that particular cohort.

and congrats to you as well!! are you going to accept the offer?

Yes. I was able to get the unit that I wanted.

But I am still considering other hospitals if I get interviews.
