Houston Nurse Residency Summer 2020

Starting a thread about Houston Nurse Residency programs that open this month/next to start in June/July!

Hi everyone, just a quick question here. I am considering migrating to Houston after my school. How easy are job applications into this hospital besides the residency program? . I guess since am getting professionally ghosted by 2 out of 6 hospitals I applied for residency too am starting to quiver as to maybe it is a good idea or not to migrate. I don’t want to move to Houston and not get a job. Please advise... thanks

Its hard to find nursing jobs in Houston that don't ask for experience. It seems the residency is the only promising door to being hired as a new grad ? I would say still apply to different hospitals and getting hired or an offer before making that big move! Look at smaller facilities also!

If you hear back from ---------------------- let me know! I called her and she said she’s waiting to hear back from a couple departments and that we should hopefully hear by the end of this week

We got an email from Laura a little over a week ago saying our apps were still under review because there were more open GN positions then they expected and that we should expect to hear something by the end of last week with an update but haven’t heard anything

I’m applying from out of state as well (Ohio) and to their northwest location. I called and they said they will have a hiring event at the end of this month.

Just got an invite for Houston Methodists TMC location to do a prescreening interview by technology sometime during next week. I didn’t get an invite for the TMC on the March 5th event (I only got an invite for Methodist West on that date) so maybe they’re sending out more invites to others as well! ?

Thanks for the update!! I'll keep my eye out for my second invite. I didn't get a prescreening either for my second choice.

Originally when I got my prescreening invite, I only received an interview for my first choice. But then when I went to check in for prescreening at the event center, they asked me who I was interviewing with for my second choice and I was confused and said I didn’t sign up for an interview with my second choice. They were confused as well and after I interviewed with my first choice, they sent me over to interview with my second choice.

Same thing happened to me!

Yeah I went later in the day. I told them the same thing and they told me not to sign up to interview for my second choice. After my interview, they told me I would hear back for a second interview or an interview with my second choice in a week or two. I just assumed I would hear back since that was how it was explained. A friend of mine also did not hear back from her 2nd choice and was told the same thing I was told.
