Houston Christian University (HCU) FNP or PNP

Published

Hello! I was writing to see if anyone has applied to the HBU FNP or PNP program. I am looking into my options since a hiccup in my personal life disallowed me to accept another schools offer, and found the HBU program which is all online and now accredited. The website is very vague in terms of application process and admission requirements, however I am very curious on the offerings the program has. I have reached out to the school, but have yet to hear from them and would love the insight from other current/prospective students.

Hi! I am starting in August myself! Which classes did you take first and is it 2 classes every 10 weeks? Thanks!

We had 3 classes in a 16wk Semester. Pharm, patho, and theory

Difficulty finding preceptors that are seeing patients. If we could do telehealth it would be OK I think

Would yall recommend buying all the textbooks or renting them? Is anyone in the Master's program live around Austin?

Most definitely rent!

When you get to the clinical part, if there’s something you specifically want, buy. But for the classes at first, rent

If you can do it all over again would you chose HBU ?

I think I would. The only real complaint I have is covid. It has really impacted preceptors. I don’t believe I would have such a hard time finding preceptors if we didn’t have covid to battle.

For the 1st year before clinicals are you required to resident near school?

Are you able to work ?

P.s If you still have hard time , let me know I can share company who is hiring NP preceptors pay them portion of fee they charge students. They charge $12.50 in hours, expensive but they will have preceptor for you

I am starting in fall too! Would love to connect. My email is [email protected]

Is this true that first clinical experience would be during 1st semester?

Hello all,

There are two approved ways of creating a special area for your cohort on this site.

One: create a facebook page.

Two: create a "club" for your cohort by clicking on the Breakroom link in the yellow bar to the left of this page.

References to other than these two avenues will be moved from view, to comply with the Terms of Service.

Thank you.
