Houston Area New Grad Internship Applicants for Summer 2014

Hi everyone,

There doesn't seem to be a lot of current threads for new grads who are in the process of applying and interviewing for new grad internships so I decided to create one so we can all connect and share info about the process and what's happening! So if you've interviewed or applied to anywhere in the medical center (Ben Taub, TCH, Memorial Hermann, Methodist, etc.) or any of the other peripheral hospitals in and around Houston please feel free to comment about your experience so we can all stay updated and help each other through this stressful time! Also any advice from new grad internship alumni would be greatly appreciated!

@txhopeful12: I'm sorry to hear that :( But hey at least you got a job at St. Lukes already. St. Lukes didn't even give me a chance. They sent me an email saying that I didn't have a BSN, which confused the heck outta me because I do have a BSN o well. Everything happens for a reason! Good luck with everything!

Hey everyone! So I have received rejection emails from Hermann in the med center and texas children's. I never heard anything back from st. lukes or MD Anderson even though I know they have done all their hiring. I applied to a GN position at Methodist Houston like a week ago and it is still open online. I also just applied yesterday to The Woman's Hospital and UTMB. I got a call yesterday from Methodist sugarland and they offered me a spot in their internship program for med surg. Not thrilled because its med surg and they don't tell you days or nights and its a bit far for me but its all I got so far. Good luck to everyone job searching and I will keep you all updated!

@Amarie0613: At least you got something :) be thankful for that! What department did you interview with Hermann? Did you at least get to the second interview?

I turned down Kindreds offer last week. Now I'm hoping I'll get a spot in Hermann.

@mrsrn2014: I interviewed with women services at Hermann and didn't even get a second interview. Some of my friends got second interviews for other units. What unit did you interview with?

Hey people! I just accepted a job at MD Anderson in their BMT unit.. Do any of you have advice/wisdom about working at MD Anderson or living in Houston? I'm in a pickle because i've never visited!!

@amarie0613: Congrats on your offer from Methodist. I completely understand how you are feeling about Hermann, they rejected me too. When did you apply to methodist Sugar Land because I just saw jobs posted for new grads last week?

I didn't see Methodist SL either. Only saw Methodist TMC and willowbrook.

I'm wondering if Methodist SL reached out to students who had clinicals there first, because I've heard of other classmates of mine being offered jobs there as well. Methodist West had some new graduate positions as well.

@mrsrn2014 & @ASD2014: I went to their career fair like a week ago and they were interviewing people and I think they hired people from there

Utmb has opened positions and Methodist in the medical center is having another career fair if anyone is still job searching
