Houston Area New Grad Internship Applicants for Summer 2014

Hi everyone,

There doesn't seem to be a lot of current threads for new grads who are in the process of applying and interviewing for new grad internships so I decided to create one so we can all connect and share info about the process and what's happening! So if you've interviewed or applied to anywhere in the medical center (Ben Taub, TCH, Memorial Hermann, Methodist, etc.) or any of the other peripheral hospitals in and around Houston please feel free to comment about your experience so we can all stay updated and help each other through this stressful time! Also any advice from new grad internship alumni would be greatly appreciated!

At least that's how it was last semester.

I got a rejection letter the day after the hermann interview :( Now I'm just hoping and praying for another interview.

mrsrn2014: Have you heard anything else from Methodist Willowbrook or harris health?

Sorry about that. I coulnt even make that interview. Youll get something so dont get discouraged. I know its easier said than done.

ASD2014: No I havent heard from them. I think I know what I messed up at the Harris Health interview now :/ So lesson learned. On a bright side, I'm getting a second interview at Hermann next week. It's my dream job! So fingers crossed.

Does anyone know if HarrisHealth called everyone that was chosen? Ive been calling and emailed but of course no answer.

I got a second interview with Hermann last week too! What department? Mine was with Trauma. They told me they'd call either way today (Monday), so I'm checking my phone every ten seconds hoping they've called. Nothing yet :/

I was with women services. She said they would make the decisions on Friday then turn it in to HR either late Friday or early Monday. She also said she's not sure how fast HR processes so hopefully we would hear something by the middle of this week.

Well, Memorial Hermann officially says thanks but no thanks via email. I'm a little upset, I thought I had a good shot at it. I even overheard one interviewer saying to another that I'd be perfect for it... I have a job secured at St. Luke's, but I was really excited about the opportunity. You win some you lose some, I guess.
