Houston Area New Grad Internship Applicants for Summer 2014

Hi everyone,

There doesn't seem to be a lot of current threads for new grads who are in the process of applying and interviewing for new grad internships so I decided to create one so we can all connect and share info about the process and what's happening! So if you've interviewed or applied to anywhere in the medical center (Ben Taub, TCH, Memorial Hermann, Methodist, etc.) or any of the other peripheral hospitals in and around Houston please feel free to comment about your experience so we can all stay updated and help each other through this stressful time! Also any advice from new grad internship alumni would be greatly appreciated!

ASD2014 what floor was your friend offered? Thats awesome! Hope they call everyone soon.

I applied to women services too at willowbrook but I haven't heard anything yet. I did hear of a classmate getting an interview there though. Was the phone call a phone interview? That is weird for them to be impatient when they were the ones who called you!

It was a quick get-to-know-you call. Like what have you been doing after graduation? Why do you wanna do women services? Maybe I should call her back and ask if I'll be interviewed?

Hospitals sometimes get on my nerves because they keep you waiting. Just tell me no if it's a no you know? Lol

Have you heard back from any on the Memorial Hermann besides tmc yet?

TMC has been the only Hermann who contacted me. Not sure how they go about their selections. A friend of mine has been waiting as well. The only interview she's gotten is Harris Health.

A lot of these hospitals seem to be really unorganized too! Its really frustrating trying to figure out how they are picking and choosing people.

I haven't heard from any other Memorial Hermann other than TMC, but I had a classmate get a random telephone interview from the Memorial Hermann in Katy Women's Services. Apparently they are only looking to hire 2 people there in women's services.

Unorganized. ..... Yes indeed! We all will get a job but i guess we must just deal with the frustration until then unfortunately.

What im wondering is how many are being accepted in each unit at harris health. Im sure more in some but wish i had an idea.

That is a good question. I know they said at the harris health info session that they were looking to hire about 70 new grads but they have multiple hospitals and other facilities so who knows how that is divided up.

Has anyone who is going to the Memorial Hermann match day heard anything about it other than the little info they gave? Like how many people are in the group interview? Any advice on how to prepare for a group interview would be good too!

I've never had a group interview. I really dont like the thought of it. Heard nothing really but to make the other look like crap with your answers. It's really doesnt make sense to me bc it may be the same managers for second interview.

I spoke with a friend who went last semester and he said there were three interviewees and three interviewers [One is the educator]. I was imagining 10 interviewees =.=

So do you know if they are hardcore with questioning or more calm lol.

Not hardcore for first interview haha. General questions. What makes it stressful is that you need to hoping that the other two interviewees don't say your answers first if your going last. Grrr
