24 hour vomit rule

I have a teacher not happy with our department (and me since I am the face of our department in this building).

PreK student vomited on the bus yesterday at 745am. Student's mom dropped her off at school this morning at 8am. It's been 24 hours, which is our guideline. Teacher and classroom aide are not pleased. Wash your hands and move on!

I had some experience with a certain ECC (Early Childhood Center) whose answer to ANYTHING deviating from the norm was to try and get the child sent home.

Thinking it was partially to lower their classroom numbers and make their days easier. I'll bet if staff got their hours cut when day-to-day census dropped, they'd be less likely to jump on that bandwagon...

Our last day is an early out on the 20th and we come back the 3rd....in Missouri. Then begins the countdown until Spring break!!!

On topic though,

An adult has to see the kid vomit...no bathroom pukers will pass...and for the most part it is 24 hours before return, with some discretion.

Eh. I still have one parent mad at me for yelling at her 4th grader with the other 4th graders because they were bullying a kid about lice (and she didn't have any lice!) and I had another parent call me because her kid came with a scratch on her face and NO one told me about it.

Typical work day.

True story:

Sweet baby vomited all over Monday, was sent home and kept home Tuesday. Wednesday she has diarrhea all over errywhere. I call mom to excuse her for today. Mom yelling on the phone, said there was nothing wrong with her, that they can't afford to take time from work, that the teachers must be carriers of disease because all the kids are getting sick....

Me: Classrooms are cleaned thoroughly, teachers wash their hands, kids get sick from everywhere, and it's district policy to come pick up this student.

Turns out that dad told teacher that on Tuesday they took her to Chuck E Cheese. YAY! Mystery solved!!
