Hospice EMR

Published

I'm looking for opinions on hospice EMR software. My company will be purchasing a program in a few months & I learned today that I ultimately get to pick what we will be using! Advice, opinions, specific companies to avoid?

We use Consolo. It can be difficult to learn/use at times, but once you learn the program, it's pretty useful. It's designed only for Hospice, not for Hospice/home health like other programs, which means that staff won't get confused by things that are not relevant.

I do like that Consolo does frequent updates to keep up with guidelines, and they always have release notes that explain what was updated.

How is your experience as of now with consolo? If you don't mind me asking, could you please let me know your experience with their support team? My team is looking for a new EMR, EHR software and we are considering consolo. I would just like to get some real user input on the software experience and support experience..

Thanks again very much,

Kenneth

Allscripts Homecare here. Used for both home health and hospice. No real issues with it. I don't have experience with other systems, but like Allscripts.

We use Brightree with a small home health/hospice/hme agency. We started with just the basics, and now have expanded to include the scanned in option and really have very few problems with the system. This is for RHC, not inpatient. The office staff love it, and as a field nurse I have had little problems with it and if there is an issue, they are on it right away. Definitely happy using it.

Not too thrilled or impressed with Brightree/Careanyware at our inpatient unit. Not user friendly and it has been very buggy. The training materials they have provide are poor and are not useful for figuring out how to use the program and it is really useless if you are up against a wall and must trouble shoot on the fly. They are supposed to come out with improvements - we are hoping - but not holding our breath.

Sounds like HPMS . . . which is what we use.

The screen flickers when you advance to the next screen. It is slow, slow, slow. The initial introduction by a rep and the instructions are not very conducive to understanding.

 Makes me laugh a little when someone complains about something tech-related here on allnurses . . . . this site is a breeze!

I like Allscripts. Some quirks, but fairly flexible. I think it is worth a look. Suncoast Soultions wasn't horrible either. Give them a try too.

Anything not Home Care Home Base

Consolo, Epic, any other except Home care Home Base. Its the worst almost 3 yrs with it. You cannot update care plan if your not on visit. Managers becomes robot skills. . Pay per view . Your data will be a hostage. Everything you want change has to paid. You need 50 inch screen to see important info, PCM or users will be clicking 500-700 mouse everyday in computer. They try to sell based on Hospice Compliance. Scary tactic. Reports are not accurate. They network you with other companies and sell products as add on. Like infection and fall reports. Or blames staff not using program properly. But sells you a University Teaching for $$$$$. Programmers dont know how to code. You can not edit your data. Better to outsource product to China or India. Much a do about nothing updates. Just for Home Health period. But sold as Hospice

I used Roadnotes (Cerner) for home hospice. It did not bother me too much but it takes some time to get used to their layout.

I have used Suncoast Solutions at two hospices, both large with 1200-1500 patients. It is very confusing and time consuming to learn, but once you get it, you got it. It might be a Florida thing, since it's owned/created by Empath Health in St. Petersburg.

I work for a large non-profit in Ohio and we use Suncoast also. I agree it takes a little getting used to but it is pretty decent

McKesson- at least the version my hospice uses - is terrible. Hard to read menu choices. Limit as to how much information you can put on the page. This is really a problem with adding information to the plan of care. I'll be typing and then I'll reach the limit and I can't add anything. Not a letter, or a period, or even a space. The only thing I can do is start rewording and abbreviating. I would be embarrassed if I was one of the people who created this program.
