We're all hearing rumblings. Is Hofstra opening a 2021 Doctorate program application? Let's share some info!

Today on facebook on our Black Nurses page it was announced. The girl who posted it said applications will be opened next week. I called today for more information but the guy who will run it wasn’t there. I have his email.

Thanks for sharing @NurseKaty! I'm hearing its going to be a combined NP/CRNA program. Any confirmation?

Next week! You guys think it will be posted next Monday?

Applications are open now .

Go on their website . They are asking for a minimum of 2 years experience . Application looks pretty straight forward . it’s a combined NP and CRNA DNP program . This should be very interesting . Good luck to everyone applying . I have a while before I can apply but it will be nice to hear what the process of like from others .

I called yesterday and was told applications are open. Looks really exciting. My coworker (who is applying as well) said the two guys running the program are former nurse anesthesia directors Columbia University.

Best of luck everyone!

Yes Dr. Greco , he ran Columbia’s program and will now run Hofstra’s program . He is a really cool guy , and I believe the program will be great . I really hope you guys come back and talk about your experience in the program as well as whether the interview is critical questions based or Personality based .

I started my application. It's an combined degree  acute care NP and CRNA and the application is in Nursingcas. Good luck everyone. Just no information on how many credits but it's 1450 per credit so I assume around 80 to 100 credits.

I called Emailed the director today from the email address on the website. He said that a lot more information will be populated on the website over the next week. He did tell me that the program was 98 credits. This program sounds really exciting and is apparently the first in the country to offer such a curriculum. I hope I get in.

Hey!

Hofstra has a pretty strong ACNP program, so I see good things with this combined DNP program.

The only thing I’m curious is what is the goal of the combined degree. Is there a demand? Is it to enhance the role in the surgical setting?  The ACNP and CRNA are very unique roles so I’m wondering if it’s to make advance practice nurses perform in pre/post and intraop care.

I asked in an FB group the other day to see if there are any people who are both an NP and CRNA, but no one seemed to be.

Theyre having a webinar on December 12th to answer any questions so I’m interested to hear more info.

Glad this thread is open! I am applying as well.

I do have two questions if anyone could confirm..

1) Do you need a current active NY nursing license to complete the NursingCAS? I sent in a NY application and it is processing at the moment (I'm from out of state).

And as far as the required shadowing, most of the hospitals and surgery centers in my area are not allowing shadowing because of COVID. Anyone else in this situation as well?

Thank you!
