Hello!
I am a new grad hoping to land a job in an ICU. Are certain hospitals in Phoenix more/less likely to hire new grads into this setting? Are there any tips to help a new grad secure a position in critical care? I have my mind made up to work in that setting, and will only be applying to these units so any insight to the valley would be awesome!!
Dreams do come true!I was hired into the ICU at Banner University Med Center!!! Apparently they doing the most new grad hiring in Phoenix.
Thanks everyone for the responses!
Which ICU? And I'm confused, all of their applications show "New Grad: No"... did you just apply anyways?? This gives me hope!!
Where do you find info for a Banner new grad program? Do they just do that automatically for any new grads hired or is it similar to Mayo Clinic new grad residency?
I work for Banner as a PCA and have been told you just apply for new grad positions. The orientation for new grads can be anywhere from 8-12 weeks depending on what unit/facility you're in. Banner Staffing Services also hires new grads, but I'm not sure how their new grad program works.
My sister works in the ICU at a local hospital and she said the hiring managers like hiring new grads because they can mold them to the program easier than an experienced nurse. So there is hope in landing a position in the ICU! It's also all about who you know, rather than what you know. :/
