I have decided to start a thread for HCC future nurses that are applying for class beginning 2015 of spring. I would like us all to be able to share and relate to one another, while experiencing this exciting moment. I know it may seem a little early but better sooner then later. This will be my last semester before I can apply to the program. I am registered to take micro with lab and humanities fall 2014. I will be able to submit my application in right after my grades are posted. The deadline for the 2015 spring class is June 1st if I am not mistaken. How is everyone else holding up?

Im so happu for everyone! And im very hopeful for the alternates :)

Oh this is such a new feeling for me, back in April I got a 'no' from USF with a 3.95 pre-req gpa. So ecstatic. Can't wait to start!

Can someone look at past threads and see about when people started getting letters with campus assignments? I would do it but I don't have acces to a computer right now. It woud take forevvver to do it from my phone lol

The wait is over guys!!! Got my letter today. Got in. So happy, think my GPA was 3.96

What!? USF denied u? Was ur essay not strong? Did they tell u why u didnt get in? Im sorry to hear your denial with USF, but we are happy u are apart of our team here at HCC

Im on my phone also but I think they got it like 2 weeks before orientation. Im not 2 positive. .. but when I get to a computer ill post if no one else does before me

Ok update I checked and they got theirs almost exactly 1 month before orientation. .. the class that just started said people with highest GPA got their first pick.

Hey on Monday im going to head to ybor campus for my back ground check and finger printing, If anyone wants to meet up and join.

I will most likely go on Monday as well! I wanna get it taken care of asap! Does anyone know if where we buy our uniforms at or if it is up to use to get our own scrubs and get them enbordered? I can we buy our own medical supplies or do we need to get a universal set by hcc? Just curious I'm so excited i wanna get all my supplies and be prepared!

I believe so, and I think that's the problem with subjective things like essays. That's irrelevant now though, so happy!

And for the people who didn't get in, it sucks, a lot. But it's never over.

I think u might want to wait on uniform just in case...they going tell about us that on orientation day! i can't wait to meet all of u :)

hey guys just wanted to congratulate you all, I'm happy you all made it in! I love hearing when people get accepted, its very exciting. about the uniform you go to hcc's nursing page under current students and there they have the nursing uniform handbook. our uniform has stayed the same the past few semesters, white scrub top, port wine bottoms, HCC nursing patch sewn on left shoulder, and white shoes. supplies are a penlight, bandage scissors, watch with hands, and most important a stethoscope. I can't stress how important this is espscially your first semester when most of what your doing is physical assessments. you need a good stethoscope to listen to the heart and lung sounds on the manniquins in lab and on your patients in clinical. the littman se 2 classic is a great choice. it will be recommended to you by nurses and staff alike. double lumen stethoscopes are not recommended because it is very hard to hear with them which is not good when you need to pick up subtle sounds like ronchi. they will go through a lot of this at orientation but its good to be prepared beforehand. the book package is about $600 with a coupon you get at orientation and the supplemental books are another $300,some are required some are not. there of are a lot of concepts that are hard to understand so supplemental books are a big help. I think that covers what you need to know right now, hope you all get the campus of your choice, if not you can always switch with someone else that wants to at orientation!
