Hello all,
I wanted to start a thread for those applying to HCC's Spring 2014 nursing program. I am a stay at home mom. I know its early but I wanted to get as much info as possible. The deadline isn't until 6/1. I'm a current HCC student. My pre-req GPA is 3.57 (all A's 1 B and 1 C ), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program.
What is everyone elses GPA? I heard its lower for the Spring.
It's a whole nother dimension..words, words, and more words! But I'm sure you'll get in you have a high enough gpa I'm just worried about the alternates option...ahh well you work hard, hope for the best, and everything will fall into place. Instead of sweating about that application you need to spend your summer sweatin in that beach lol...Good Luck
Exactly @Cindy14 once you get in that nursing program you're going to eat, breathe, sleep nursing for the next two years..it is what it is. That's why everyone should take FULL advantage of this summer as best they can. I got accepted into USF so I am applying to their nursing program now..lets see where that goes...
Hello All, Where is everyone? It been a bit quiet lately. I hope all is well and everyone is enjoying their Summer break with family and freinds. Application deadline is approaching fast (June 1st), I hope everyone was able to submit the application and all the required docs in time. Good Luck all.....
Got my application all turned in!! Hoping for the best. Just to let you all know I applied for last spring with a 3.52 gpa and got an alternate. Later I got accepted but had to decline for health reasons. The cutoff was around 3.57 in the beginning and I think the lowest alternate to get in was a 3.4. Just some hope this time :)
I've jumped around and read random comments but I think some people are confused. They only accept like 140 or whatever the number is total and then split the students up to the different campuses. They don't take 140 at DM campus and then 140 at South Shore campus...etc. That is why they ask you to rank the campuses on the application because they try to get all of the 140 accepted students to the campus they prefer.
Hello Mdavidson22088 and welcome to our new home for the next couple month :-). Im happy that you are doing well now and able to join the SPRING 2014 class. Application deadline is today since June 1 is on a Saturday, so now the 12 week count down officialy starts. Im trying to stay busy with summer classes but i still find myself stressing the long wait for acceptance letters to be sent out. Hopefully the time will pass fast.
@ CassieAyana... You're correct, there are between 130 and 140 total open slots for the HCC Nursing Program. The Spring 2014 class will have 1 class in PC, 1 class in SS, and 3 in DM with an average of 25 students in each class for a total of 125. Some classes go up to 28 students max which brings us to 140 total slots.

@Cookie - re: Statistics .. I totally do understand about earning your "B", I earned my "B" feeling the same way.
If there was any class that I felt I was in a different world (this as a cross-enrolled USF/HCC student w/ prior college experience) it was statistics. I am so glad I never have to take that class again. Ugh.
