Hillsborough Community College - Spring 2014

Published

Hello all,

I wanted to start a thread for those applying to HCC's Spring 2014 nursing program. I am a stay at home mom. I know its early but I wanted to get as much info as possible. The deadline isn't until 6/1. I'm a current HCC student. My pre-req GPA is 3.57 (all A's 1 B and 1 C ), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program.

What is everyone elses GPA? I heard its lower for the Spring.

Deltacrux check webadvisor, all my stuff is back including nursig applicant!!

Woot! So is mine.. wow.. that was a lot faster than what I expected. Awesomesauce!

Specializes in midwifery.

Advisor told me i do not have second chance taking this classes again. First grade will show up on my transcript. My microbiology grade is B and sociology C. I afraid it affect my GPA very badly.

From what I can tell, you have about a 3.5,that's about the cutoff for alternates. Students with lower gpas have been accepted, don't give up just yet.

Like what Juleby said, "Never give up!" There are other options you can take a look at if HCC isn't a fit in the end. One of those would be to go the LPN -> RN route at someplace like Erwin or Everest. Once you've got your LPN under your belt, then go through HCC for the LPN to RN transition course.

I will say this, a 3.5 is nothing to disregard or dismiss! It's a great GPA and quite a few people never attain such a GPA. It's just this program is so darn competitive..

Never give up on your dream. There is always a way around everything. Good luck to you, Aysekaya and keep us updated.

Does anyone know when to start expecting response letters?

I will say about Sept. 15

Well unfortunately for me,starting next semester I need to pay my classes cash,no more financial aid for me as I will have almost two associate degrees completed in the fall. Ugh I wish I had known before I had taken both degrees.

Oh no! Ouch. How many total credits do you have completed?

About 90 after this semester,I studied paralegal and AA nursing,I have 60 credits with the AA allied health and 30 for paralegal.

Can you file an appeal?
