I wanted to start a thread for those applying to HCC's Spring 2014 nursing program. I am a stay at home mom. I know its early but I wanted to get as much info as possible. The deadline isn't until 6/1. I'm a current HCC student. My pre-req GPA is 3.57 (all A's 1 B and 1 C ), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program.
What is everyone elses GPA? I heard its lower for the Spring.
I thought you guys might like to know that books and more on Lois in tampa has the nursing books box brand new and if you take the coupon it comes out cheaper than at HCC. If you take your promissory not or financial aid letter you can take it home same day.

It was pretty darn disorganized. I was especially somewhat surprised at how completely chaotic today (Friday) was. I also thought some of the presenters were somewhat odd (i.e. security?!).
Rosaly, I need to get with you on how you got your books since I am most likely going to have to go that route. The books are new and include all the simulation software/codes, right?

Yes they are in the same sealed box Hcc has. I bought the last one today though,apparently everyone rushed over there after orientation. But if you call she can put you on a list and tell you when to pick them up once her new shipment comes in the next two weeks.

I believ it's about $20 cheaper but my main reason for buying them there is that they let you charge your books to financial aid a full 6 weeks before Hcc does.

That had to be the worst orientation session i've ever attended. Its hard to believe that after so many years of doing this that HCC does not have a better system in place. I'm very disappointed...... Okay...Enough of that; its time to put that behind us and focus on these last 2 weeks of class so we can finish strong. Good Luck to everyone on their finals coming up soon.:)
Does anyone else's Certified Profile show "HI43 Fall 2013" with a due date of "8/20/2013"? I would have imagined it should be 'Spring 2014' and a due date of '01/08/2014'?

Yes, mine says that. Maybe they didn't change the info from the last semester. I think they use the same codes.

Hmm. OK. As long as its not something that I did wrong or mistyped.
I really wish all of this was a little more straightforward, and I didn't have to worry about double-checking everything that HCC does or is supposed to do. Between worrying about them miscalculating GPA's, missing acceptance letters, the inability to register, and everything else in-between I begin to wonder about all of this .
