Hello all,

I thought I would start a thread for those of us applying to HCC's Spring 2013 nursing program. I am a Veterinary Technician/stay at home mom. I'm gathering everything for my application and hoping to drop it off at HCC soon. The deadline isn't until 6/1 but they recommend turning it in at least 30 days in advance. I'm a current HCC student. I was planning on applying for Fall this year, but am now expecting a little girl to arrive in July so spring it is! My pre-req GPA is 3.86 (all A's and 1 B), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program for DM evening classes. Good luck to all!

I have heard from past students that we should expect letters around the first week of september so lets hope that is correct.

Just curious if you saw the time lines on another post or if you spoke to the school? If they meet in Sept to decide, i wonder if it is at the beginning or the end? So excited!

You know call me crazy but I wonder, if they don't meet till September, why was June 1 the deadline?

I'm not complaining, I submitted everything on time, etc. but I'm sure July 1 could have been just as fine.

I really hope so the waiting is killing me. I wait for the mail everyday hoping something is in their :0)

I have been stalking my mail man, thank God he finds it funny. In the mean time I am trying to stay busy....

Leave him alone! (Until September that is). :D

Girl, I'm doing the same thing. I didn't know it was sept when we would find out when I talked to HCC they told me the 2nd week in Aug so I have been running to the mail Box every chance I get lol. If for some chance I dont get into the Spring program when is the deadline to apply for the Fall class? bc dont we have to reapply? Ugh this is driving me nuts!!!!!!!!!!!! :coollook:

I think the deadline to apply for Fall is January 15. Patience is not my strongest virtue so this wait is torture!

I have come to find out that the areas within HCC are not always communicating. I finally was able to get into Hawknet and view my documents. It said that i was still missing my high school transcripts but I had received a solution email from HCC help desk that they were received 5/22/12 when I turned in all my other paperwork in person. I graduated from HCC too so they already had verified my high school transcripts!

I really hope that they look at the physical paperwork instead of just the system. If something silly as their systems not linking up effects a 3.71 getting in, i will be very upset. On a different note, Sept is right around the corner!

I just stalked the last spring's post and it looks like some of the letters were received sept 10th.. That is not that far away!

LOL.. Last years Spring class started receiving them around the 10th of September per the pervious post

Hi everyone!

I applied for the spring 2013. This is my second time to apply because my gpa was not competive enough for the fall. My gpa is 3.38 and was told by a councilor that it was competive enough for the spring and encouraged me to reapply. I have been asked by several friends and family members what I will do if I don't get accepted this time around. My answer is no clue. I am 34 with 2 small kids and am currently enrolled at hcc and will be wrapping up my credits to get my general AA while I'm waiting to get my acceptance letter. I honestly haven't thought beyond it b/c RN is really the only avenue I want to venture at this point. Try another school maybe? Thoughts and comments are appreciated!

hello kinacrzy, welcome. Did you look at other health science degrees, like sonography or radiology? They have slightly different prereqs, so maybe your grades are higher for that? Other schools, I think, won't help, because if you don,t live in that county, they will take points off for the residency. Plus PHCC has TEAS entrance test, which is pretty bad. So for the time being just wait to see what happens. You can also try LPN in ST. Petersburg and then do LPN-RN bridge.
