Hello all,

I thought I would start a thread for those of us applying to HCC's Spring 2013 nursing program. I am a Veterinary Technician/stay at home mom. I'm gathering everything for my application and hoping to drop it off at HCC soon. The deadline isn't until 6/1 but they recommend turning it in at least 30 days in advance. I'm a current HCC student. I was planning on applying for Fall this year, but am now expecting a little girl to arrive in July so spring it is! My pre-req GPA is 3.86 (all A's and 1 B), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program for DM evening classes. Good luck to all!

well in another two weeks or so we should have an answer. I'm anxious to know either way. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer. Good luck all.

Does anyone known when we will find out if we got accepted into the HCC nursing program for spring of 2013?

The gpa for nursing for HCC is based off your pre-reqs gpa right?

The nursing selection committee meets in September and will send the letters out around the middle of the month. We should start looking in our mailboxes around the 12th! Also, HCC does accept applicants based on the pre-requisite GPA that consist of 21 hours.

If there is a tie and there are not enough spots for people with the same GPA, then the overall GPA will be used. I think that would be the case in a GPA less than 3.5 or 3.4 or so. The cutoffs are getting very competitive!

Welcome Rochelleyohn. If you'd be so kind, please vote on our poll on Page 1 of this thread. Thank you.

My pre-requisite Grade is a 3.6 or 3.7 ( I need to refigure it) but my overall GPA is lower is a 3.37 :( I really want to get into the program I work as an EMT for Polk County and I'm ready to move on to bigger and better things. Good luck to all

Ok Just refigured it out my Pre-requisite GPA is 3.75 then my over all GPA is a 3.327 :( Hopefully this is good enough to get into the Prgrogam.

They shouldn't even look at your overall GPA. You should be good if you have everything completed and the committee calculates your GPA as you did! There have been some problems with transcripts not being marked as "official" or not being received. Hopefully all will be okay for you. We should know next month!

Best of luck everyone!

Under my Hawknet stuff everything is filled in as received, so Keeping my fingers crossed! Me getting into the program will be a New start for me and my son! Thank you for all your help and information. Best of luck to all!

I am thankful I found this site! I am also waiting to hear about acceptance to the Spring 13' program. Fingers Crossed. Does anyone know what classes I should take while waiting to hear about acceptance? I am currently in Statistics. Should I just continue to take classes to complete my AA?

Welcome mbush7. Please vote on our poll on Page 1 of this thread at first chance. Thank you.

As for your question on what else to take, Stats is good because most BSN programs require it I think. Plus it's easy (at least for me it was, hehe) so that's good. If I were you I would look at USF's BSN prereq requirements as a template for you to select from. You might have to take PSY1012, (Gen Psych) DEP2004, (Developmental Psych) HUN2201 (Nutrition) to name a few. I have done them all already since I was originally applying for a straight BSN program, but those are some of the ones I recall.

Just curious if you saw the time lines on another post or if you spoke to the school? If they meet in Sept to decide, i wonder if it is at the beginning or the end? So excited!
