Hillsborough Community College Spring 2009

Published

I am an alternate for HCC Dale Mabry campus. I am not yet in the program. This is my third time as an alternate, so; I don't want to be too optimistic. I found out that starting last week the school was going to be notifying alternates if they have a spring 2009 seat. I am wondering if anyone has heard that they are in yet. I am very nervous, and I would appreciate any information. Thank you

Hi all! I hope everyone that was accepted enjoyed orientation! I was wondering what everyone was thinking of getting for shoes....I'm debating between the sneakers and actual nursing shoes....if we get sneakers is it ok if there is mesh on them here and there??

yes, any type of all white shoes are fine, some instructors are pickier than others, so to be safe advise allllllll white (if you are brave a TINY bit of another color is ok, by this I mean light great or something close to white)

spend decent money on them- you'll wear them a lot!!!

I suppose you could have the mesh if it is OVER the leather. The whole point is to avoid any liquid from making contact with your skin. I'm getting knee high leather boots with a three inch pump.

Orientation was exhausting.

That's my concern - I know she was saying new balance sneakers as an example of a good pair, but they all have mesh air holes and the edging isn't leather...left me a little worried! LOL at the boots!

Fourhundred - what campus are you on and what class? i was plant city but got switched, so i'm now in dale mabry's afternoon class.

Did they mention at orientation how many applicants they had for the Spring 2010 term?

Congrats again everyone!

p.s. Still in shock over the kIng of Pop death :(

NewGoal - no she didn't talk about spring at all. i think she was too overwhelmed with the 30 people who wanted to change their campus! i really think there was some sort of error that caused that to happen!

ok, thanks. What happened? Did they not get their choice?

i can't speak for everyone who wanted to switch, but anyone i spoke with about it was given a different campus than they requested (including me). and the director was saying they've never had so many people want to switch before. just kinda makes me think there was some error...

I got the campus that I wanted for Fall 2009. So, all is good. :) No mix-ups for me. Orientation was exhausting, I agree. I am excited to start!! Will work on getting scrubs and shoes soon. I see a lot of student nurses at the hospital I work at, with all leather, white, Nike Shox. Going to start working on the clinical calculations soon, to be ready for fall. Good luck to all Spring 2010 applicants!!! :specs:

Hey Everyone!

I applied for the Spring 10 class. I got a letter in the mail asking which campus I would like to choose from... Is this standard procedure, or should I take this as good news??

Hello,

I did not receive any letters from HCC before my acceptance. I am not sure why they are sending these letters out, perhaps to include the Ruskin campus as a choice now?? I am sorry, but I do not think this letter is an indication if you are going to be accepted, but hopefully I am wrong. There is another thread going about the 2010 Spring class under the Florida nurses forum. Good luck!! :)

hmm...i'm not sure either. I never received anything like that. Although, they had about 30% of the fall class wanting to switch campuses, so maybe they are wanting to try to avoid that by making sure they know which campus you prefer.
