I am an alternate for HCC Dale Mabry campus. I am not yet in the program. This is my third time as an alternate, so; I don't want to be too optimistic. I found out that starting last week the school was going to be notifying alternates if they have a spring 2009 seat. I am wondering if anyone has heard that they are in yet. I am very nervous, and I would appreciate any information. Thank you
thank you. my gpa was 3.4 and it wasn't high enough to get me right in since i was listed as an alternate initially. but some people must have dropped out and i got called in. whew!
that was a definite relief! one more quick question, is this everything you have to turn in >> application for admission (if not a prior student), nursing application, any transcripts, background check consent form & check for $53?
Sorry for the delay in response. But you seem to have it all right. However, I would make time to meet with a counselor. You don't have to make an appointment. You can just walk in. I am sure you visited their site but here it is again: http://www.hccfl.edu/departments/health-science/nursing/prerequisites.aspx
Before starting the program you also have to be up to date on cpr and also have a physical. Hope that helps.
PCC- is that Pasco community college? I would base your decision on the following:
1. NCLEX pass rates
2. Location
3. CO-requisites required
4. Hospital clinical sites
5. Size of classes
6. REputation of program
I don't know much about PCC's program except that they require a minimun # of pre-requisites i.e 14 credits I believe vs 21 for HCC
I do know that I have heard great things about HCC's program, that they make you take the HESI exam after each component ...I guess this is good as it simulates the NCLEX exam and is a predictor of if you will pass it or not.
Give me some more details about location and requirements. Also, HCC has the evening/Saturday program which providies great flexibility.
You did well...you were sweating getting accepted and now you have 2 choices! go girl!
TEas- No, HCC is not requiring that. It is Erwin Tech that has implemented this test in addition to the TEAS.
