Hillsborough Community College RN program fall 2013

Published

Hello,

I plan to attend to HCC's 2013 fall evening nursing program (applying in Jan). I am curious to see what people people's GPA is going in. I hear spring's is lower than fall's.

Thanks!

Just got a call accepted to plant city days :)))) beyond excited I had pretty much lost hope for fall not my first choice but oh well I'm happy regardless. Now to start the process of fingerprints immunizations etc can anyone tell me the schedule for plant city days and wat days it will be?

Congrats! See you there! I am also PC days.

You may want to join plant city Student nurse assoc. facebook page, since you missed them at orientation. They are having a "Secret Tips" General Assembly on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 10:00am to help us newbies.

How do we get the Hcc Patches for the Uniform. Is the same form to get the name tag? I am confused. Also, anyone knows about a good health insurance.

PC campus has the package of books for nurses, but having problems entering them in their system he said should be ready within the next day or so

The patches are available at the bookstore. I have looked into health insurance...haven't found anything under $98 per month...very limited coverage. I am still debating on whether I am going to get insurance, as I cannot find where it is "required", but is recommended. If I can get a definitive "yes" it is "required", I will of course comply. My issue with it is that short of something catastrophic, I would pay less out of pocket to cover an incident on my own than it would cost me to carry insurance. I have found that good coverage is approximately $270 a month...I cannot afford this, and go to school. If anyone has found a good health plan, please post the information- phone number or web address.

Has anyone heard from PC Days professor yet? I'm dying to officially have our clinical assignments!

Also, on a not cool side note - my Hep B titer came back negative. Time to get another series done!

Thanks for the info...the cheaper insurance I could find is in this page BCBSF

It is not cheap and not so good... I will way to see if we really need it too.

In terms of the insurance, I believe it was said that we have to have emergency insurance in case something happens during clinicals. I think the hospitals require it because they are already sticking their necks out letting us be there, or something along those lines.

I know...I remember hearing that as well, but thus far I haven't found discounted insurance for "students". And, when I asked for those 2 specific points of coverage, I haven't been able to get a policy with just those 2...they must be included in a package, and the deductibles are pretty high. I asked a current student if they ever had to show proof of insurance, and they said "NO". So, I am stuck with a dilemma for now.

I haven't heard anything. I am checking hawkmail, and looking on Blackboard to see if the class is scheduled, and for messages...not sure which she will use to contact us. I'm not even scheduled for the class on Blackboard...I am still scheduled on WebAdvisor. Are you or is anyone else on PC days scheduled on Blackboard for NP1?

I'm not sure if it would work or not, but it could be worth a try. For anyone looking for insurance, try to apply for Hillsborough County Healthcare or some sort of medicaid. Not sure if there is a monthly premium, but if there were one, i'm sure it would be cheaper than corporate insurance.

Are you changing the semester from spring to fall '13?
