Hillsborough Community College RN program fall 2013

Published

Hello,

I plan to attend to HCC's 2013 fall evening nursing program (applying in Jan). I am curious to see what people people's GPA is going in. I hear spring's is lower than fall's.

Thanks!

I am also PC days, and haven't received anything yet from our instructor. I looked at the Nursing Student Manual, but I didn't see what you read about the health insurance...I think I am looking in the wrong place. Can you tell me what you are looking at? (Where it is located, and the title of the doc?) I am interested in a med discount plan that covers emergency and hospitalization (those are the specifics that were mentioned in orientation). The lowest plan I have found is $98 a month...the deductible is pretty high...I would end up paying out of pocket for common treatment. Have you gotten a quote and if so, who did you contact? And, where can I get more info on the gov't insurance plan for pell grant qualifiers? Sorry to ask so many questions...LOL...I have been stressing over this insurance thing.

Here's is a link to the Health Science manual Hillsborough Community College - HS Application/ Manuals

Here is the link to the government insurance site. Starting in January-2014 everyone will be required to purchase health insurace or pay a penalty fee https://www.healthcare.gov/

Medical discount plans do not cover anything; technically they are not insurance. You pay $19-$30 a month to receive discounts on services provided by in-network doctors. Google around to find more information. and No I haven't gotten any quotes yet.

Plant City evenings for me.

Does anybody knows if you can get any financial at HCC if you already has a bachelor degree

As long as you haven't gone over the credit hour limit according to the government I believe you can. Contact someone at Financial Aid just to make sure. You're late for the priority deadline though so I'm not sure how that will work.

Uniform wise what's the cheapest you guys have found?

There's a place in PC I found called Deese's Scrubs that has a 20% online coupon code (NEW239) and free shipping til the end of the month, but I haven't decided if it's the best option yet. Any opinions price wise?

Allheart.com had some pretty cheap clearance stuff: $5 tops the last time I looked. You can google around for a discount code.

Hi, Im scheduled for the Dale Mabry campus, & I remember at orientation they said all the books (from the package) are the same at each campus. I was checking online at the HCC bookstore and they said the book package was $611, I was just wondering where you found your books at a lower rate? Thanks :)

I went to Plant City campus today and bought the book bundle and 2 patches for the unifrom. $589

My classes are still not in Bloackboard and I have not heard from the instructor.

If you did receive an email could please post the information as to what we should be reading before class? Those of us still waiting in the dark would really appreciate it! :)

As per insurance, the requirement is listed in the Health Sciences manual. It says that some clinical sites may require proof. I wonder if we are allowed to purchase a medical discount plan instead of full insurance. They tend to cost much less. Starting in October the government insurace plans will become available for purchase effective Jan-14: if you qualify for Pell you will be able to purchase insurance at a discounted rate, but that is not going to help in August.

If you use the coupon they gave us in orientation, it drops the price by like $40 or somewhere around that. I don't remember the exact price of the discount but it does make a difference.

I bought Cherokee tops and bottoms at Uniform Connection in Lakeland (that's where I live)...they were about $30 a set...I also got my shoes there- Nurse Mates - on sale for $56. I actually got my stethoscope, watch, pin light, scissors, etc there also. Not too bad...I'm sure there may be some better prices on-line...I just wasn't sure about sizing, so I wanted to try them on. I bought a much smaller size than I would have thought, so be sure to try some on somewhere before you purchase on-line.

The coupon they gave us at orientation took $61 off of the $611

That's even better lol
