Hillsborough Community College Nursing Program Application Spring 2022

Hey everyone!

This post is for the Spring 2022 Nursing program at HCC. I applied for the Fall and was not accepted so trying again for Spring!

GPA was calculated as 3.28

Fall’s cutoff GPA was 3.52 which seems incredibly low for that semester so here’s to hoping Spring is even lower! Good luck!!

That was my only issue. Everything else is submitted and has been approved with no issues thankfully. My name badge gets here today and I’ve already ordered and received my stethoscope. Just waiting on my scrubs, and I still need to buy a pen light and utility scissors.

Hope it’s coming along smoothly for everyone else!

Did the people who made the badges email you a shipping confirmation? I just got a email confirming my order and that was it. Also amazon has some affordable bandage scissors and pens in a pack super cute as well LOL. And I still haven’t heard nothing from the people who are doing our scrubs.

Yes! It took them a few days after I got the confirmation. They sent it when they shipped it and it only took a day to receive it. So, I ordered mine Oct 4th, and I’ll be receiving it sometime today. So about a week and a half.


And I’ll definitely be checking out Amazon for those items!! 

I also haven’t heard anything from the scrubs either! I’m dying to know how long it’ll take?

They want a watch that has the “seconds” hand so you can use it to count respiration’s/pulse etc for a full minute. They don’t want us to use smart watches, or anything that only has the numbers. If that makes sense LOL.

I wanted to ask, are the books we're buying for all four semesters? Cause on the nursing expenses it only lists semester one books cost and the rest of the semester is N/A, so I was wondering are we just paying for them in advance? Otherwise I hope we aren’t paying 1.2k every semester for books ?‍?

That’s what I’m thinking! When I look at the list it has books for peds/mother baby/ mental health etc and I know we don’t learn those until 2nd semester, so I’m guessing it’s for the whole program!

Hey guys I’m a 4th sem student in the program. Our books were bought in a package one time at the beginning and had all books required for the program. I‘ll sell mine to someone discounted if you find out what package you are required to have and if it’s the same as what I had. You might have to buy access code for some online stuff separate, but might save someone some money.

That’s great I was worried for a second! Also are we allowed to use our financial aid for these books since their from the hcc bookstore? Or you couldn’t?

I was creeping in other forums and seen that you’re in Cohort 4! May I ask where the Plant city campus does clinical and what your over all class hours are? Thank you!!

I didn’t qualify for financial aid because I already have a bachelors but I believe others were able to use it.

Yes, that’s right. So class and clinical varies by level (semester).  As far as class, first sem we went like 2 days a week starting at 7:30am I think it was and then we had lab hours that were required as well, plus clinical. There’s a few simulations per semester where you go to Dale Mabry. For clinical I’ve been to LRH, TGH, Southbay, South Florida Baptist..!but some have gone to Kindred or other hospitals as well, just depends where they assign you for the given semester.

Nope, I also haven’t heard anything only the invoice but that was it, I hope we at least get a shipping confirmation or something cause I would like to know when it’s delivered so I can make sure to grab it.
