Hillsborough Community College Fall 2017

Published

Is anyone else planning on applying for the Fall 2017 nursing program? I know it is really early, but I am just too excited. I want other people to share my excitement with!! :)

So I'm just going to post a little bit of my wisdom since I've already been through this road lol I applied for spring 2017 and clearly got denied . I had a 3.428 which clearly is not a excellent GPA but it is pretty decent . lower GPA have been accepted . what I'm basically trying to say is please don't put your eggs all in one basket you will regret it !!!!! Don't just apply for HCC . APPLY EVERWHERE YOU CAN lol . an advisor even suggested applying to LPN programs . which I did already . I am taking a class to raise my GPA to a 3.579 . this spring cutoff was 3.566 . I'm obviously nervous to apply again but I know I have to do it . just giving you a heads up . and please don't worry so much because at the end of the day .. You'll be OK

Thank you for the advice and I agree. Everyone should apply to multiple places just in case. The gpa cut off was 3.566 for prerequisites gpa or overall?

By prereq . they only use overall to break a tie .

Good luck! I hope we all get in this fall. Unfortunately HCC is the only one I can apply to at this point. I cant even think about affording any of those for profit colleges around town

UCFAshley: you can look at applying to Pasco Hernando colleg (there are about 5 locations I think)... they offer nursing AA and BS. The only downfall from what I understand is they do a calculation of your teas and GPA for acceptance.

Ive been thinking about applying other places to make sure I get in but besides Pasco Hernando nothing is really that close.

Yeah it's rough out there lol you guys just make sure you focus on the classes you guys are taking right now. My advisor did tell me that the past falls have accepted low GPA . which doesn't make sense . you would think spring would accept low GPA but I guess not lol . do try to keep your GPA high tho . don't let it fall past a 3.4 --- my advisor advice

It make sense to me since if you apply in spring it feels like just 2 years but if you start in fall it seems like 2 1/2 due to starting the end of the year. For instance spring will be 2017-2018 for us if we get in we will be done 2017- 2019 . I wish I could of started in spring but it's hard working full time , having kids, and going to school.

If you ladies get in are you going to be working while in the program ?

Specializes in Pediatric Emergency Nursing.

When it comes to Pasco Hernando, they have 3 campuses you can apply for in the Fall. However, students living in those counties are given priority over students say in Hillsborough or Pinellas. Polk State College is a smaller school in Lakeland/Winter Haven, which is one of the many schools I applied to. I was admitted for this Spring term and I had a 3.4 and an 80 on my TEAS. They do not give Polk County students priority and let us know if we got in 2 weeks after the application deadline. Good luck to you all!

Holy smokes!!! Sorry you had a rough few weeks. You have every reason to vent! Good luck on your TEAS, I'm on the east side of the state and going to see if I can take it here. Kaiser said I could but can only arrange it only 3 days in advance. I'm shooting for the 25th

Ashley- I just took my TEAS, keep in mind I literally didn't get a chance to study at all or even crack open the study guide. I made a 78%. I am so glad it is over. You will do great on the 25th!

Thank You Bellalinda and Brerosas for the insight. Breroses, I do not plan on working if I get accepted, I think I would end up spending more on a daycare than I would actually make.

What a great score!! I was almost considering taking the TEAS on the 17th afterall, but didn't get a chance because we were house hunting. Are you going to apply soon?

House hunting sounds fun! I will apply soon, I have to call the school tomorrow and ask about the process with mailing in the application, I am not sure how the $53 processing fee works if I mail it in. I still have to turn in my military transcripts, but the VA representative at HCC is giving me the run around. lol

You will do fantastic, I am sure of it! :)
