Anybody applying ...? =)

I left him 3 or 4 messages, i have yet to actually talk to him! WIA got a list of only 12 people. I cant imagine why just some and not others. Ugh how frustrating!!

I didn't apply but from what i've been reading WIA is the one giving the money, so I would assume the 12 they have their list would be those getting the money (just a theory).

That's where I am frustrated. I have spoken to a few people at the school about it including HCC live & they reset my login info but the system still does not even recognize me. When I search for my blackboard account using my email it doesn't even recognize that. For some odd reason when I search my last name it only picks up my Sister in law who has not attended HCC for over 3 years. Slightly frustrating, I'll just give it more time I suppose.

I am showing my Pell grant in WebAdvisor finally. Also, when I checked the bookstore through the website, the books are there. It is the expensive price, so I'm not sure if they are doing the discount they talked about in orientation? Has anyone gotten their book package yet?

I am still waiting on a call back from Patrick at the hospital, hopefully somebody will shed some sort of light!!

When I went to fill out the paperwork at Wia, Samantha told me that now all I need to do is wait for the funds to come and she will have me pick up the voucher to bring to school for the Wia money. She said there was nothing else to do for it. I don't know how the hospital plays in with Patrick saying they haven't picked the 12. It absolutely doesn't make sense. Why would Wia arbitrarily pick 12 people from their stack of applications to give the money to if they weren't being directed by the hospital? I can't imagine a coincidence that big.

Vaccine prices from 2 places we've seen on here. I'm going to both since the savings is enough to justify the gas!

I'm gonna try to call him tomorrow too cause he still didn't get back with me yet. I got an email from Natalie Hoover(WIA program coordinator) saying that she would assign me to a case manager, that would contact me soon. This whole WIA thing has been out of control from the start, and I still can't figure anything out despite all my efforts...lol. Brandee, please let us know if u hear anything from Patrick.

My case manager was Samantha, and she was cool. They are under new management, whole new staff, new paperwork to fill out (almost identical to the other paperwork!). As I like to say, it's a situation we cant explain without use of the word "cluster"!

Any advices on nursing shoes please?

I really don't know what to do and what to pick...

I don't even know what are the criteria to choose the right one.

I think we need a watch, but should it be white?

Do we need scissors also?

Thank you in advance

I'm having trouble deciding the same thing, the shoes. I have white tennis shoes but they have a lot of gray/silver on them and I don't want to get in trouble.

I heard nurse mates are good but need replacing often (then again were only wearing them one day a week) so I think they'd last.

Shoes have to be all white leather and close toes and close heeled. Nothing with too much of a logo.

We also need a white watch.

I dont remember hearing anything about scissors?

We will need bandage scissors and a penlight as well. Not sure where in the handbook it was, probably by uniforms.

I remember someone asking if you can take a CPR course online and I just found out that you can! Go figure! You can get this done at Online CPR Certification & Online First Aid Certification :: CPRToday! CPR Course & First Aid Course Introduction Pricing varies......starting at $24.95......depending on which type of certification you are looking for. The only thing that might be a problem is that the certification might not be acceptable for the nursing program.....but you can always check first.

Online CPR will not be accepted for nursing at HCC. They specifically said no online courses. They are offering several continuing ed classes at HCC for $25. They handed out the information during orientation, but those still looking can probably search for it and find it...
