How awful. And of course these sorts of stories are the kind that get attention, so many people have the impression that nursing home staff members are often negligent and conditions are horrendous. I'm so sorry for this family that they had to see their loved one die such an awful death. Really tragic.

A very sad case and I bet it is not the only instance at that facility. There had to be some reason the family felt compelled to set up the camera.

It would be truly disgusting for any patient to go through this, but as a veteran myself, it truly chaps my behind when someone that at one time fought for everyone's freedom is treated this way. I do agree the punishment was far too lenient.

It's not relevant that he was a man, either ...or that he was elderly ...or where it occurred ...or what year. I guess they could headline it, " A Person Died Due to Someone Else's Negligence", but then people would complain that there weren't enough details. "Veteran" just adds a little bit of relatable detail and human interest.

It's not relevant in terms of the treatment of patient in the hands of what were supposed to be competent caregivers, but I do notice that very few of the headlines are stating the obvious fact that the patient was white and the nurses were black. Had this been the other way around, the media would be highlighting that.
