Hi Suzanne, important questions about NY application

Published

I believe that applying in New York is the best choice for me. I just need to clarify some matters,Suzanne. :-)

The requirements for the NY application are the CVS and Form 1. So the Visa Screen will be submitted AFTER passing the NCLEX ? Or should the Visa Screen be submitted with the CVS and Form 1? Because from what I understood on their website, they only mentioned the Visa Screen for those who want to apply for the temporary license. My concern is to be allowed by the NY Bon to take the NCLEX.Please clarify.

And Ms. Suzanne, form 1 and the application for CVS should be notarized at the US Embassy ONLY? Can't I ask an attorney to notarize it for me?

Thank you so much for the help. You are indeed a blessing to everyone ! :-)

Suzanne has a thread/sticky especially for questions for her.

Visa screen is a requirement of immigration and you need a pass in either NCLEX or CGFNS exam. Better to wait until you have passed NCLEX as VSC require all documents received within 12 months although the certificate once issued is valid for 5 years

Are you actually going to be working in NY? If not, it is a waste of time for you to go thru there. The other issue is that there have not been any hospitlas from there that have been petitioning for more than two years now.

The CGFNS Certificate is needed for the temporary work permit, but the VSC is required by all that wish to get a green card from US Imiigration. They are two very different things.

You can submit your application to NY, there is no reason to wait for that.

so wats the purpose of cvs? when i submit and pay for the NY licensing (form 1) what will happend nxt?and how long it would take? thanks so much suzanne for ur time...

NY requires the CVS for all foreign nurses that wish to get licensed there. You have no choice but to go thru it if you want to work in NY.

Once the CVS is received by NY and they have a completed application on file, then it is usually just a few weeks or so until you have the ATT, once you pay Pearson-Vue.

so you mean to say i can now apply and pay for the form1 and also i can now register to pearson vue at the same time?even if the status of my cvs is ready for final reviw?thank you so much suzzanne

YES.

hi there,

i'm just new here... i am applying for ny bon. my cvs had issued report last week. i just want to ask some questions in the ny application form 1. in question #17 about the schools attended. honestly, i cannot remember the exact date i entered my first grade and even my first year in highschool. can i just leave it blank?

when i applied at cvs i wrote that i graduated march 1997 for elementary school. but then i found out that i graduated april 4, 1997. what will i write in my ny application form?

is completion date same with graduation date?

i hope you can help me with my problem thank you!

You need to figure out when you attended school, and the dates need to be the same as that are listed when you attended. And the same on all applications. Any wrong date that does not match up with what is on the document will be returned to be corrected and will delay things for you.

Contact CGFNS and NY BON. Better have all things done the right way so that there would be no problems.

You can always ask the school as I believe that they have all the dates that you need(education). Remember, form 137 from high school being endorsed to your tertiary school of choice? You can further validate this by going to all the schools that you have attended, but I think it is no longer needed because when you go into college, they have all your records.
