Hi I have a question about being an LVN to RN

Hmmm, I surely have never heard that. I've always understood that, in order to become an RN, you have to go back to school for about a year and a half or so. We had people in our program who were LVN's who were able to skip the first semester but still had to take three more semesters of school.

No, I've never heard of this in my life. In order to take the NCLEX you have to had graduated an approved program geared to educating RNs. You have to have either an associates or a bachelors degree from an accredited college.

On the flip side, in some states (incl. mine) an RN student with X amount of clinical hours completed may sit for the LPN boards-ie while s/he is still in school for the RN.

But thats apples to oranges, really.

No i havent ever heard that either. There are instances where the LPN boards are challenged after the second year of a RN program, but i wouldnt necissarily recommend that either.

As far as i know, there is a required bridge program for LPN to RN along with at least the second year of the RN ASN/ADN program. For a 4 year program there is at least 3 years of completion even with the RN boards passed following ADN programs. At least in most schools.

I have never heard of this. I have been a LPN for 17 years and I am back in school for my RN degree. I am exempt from some of the classes and clinicals in RN school because of being a LPN but have never been told I could just go sit for RN boards...got to get more education and graduate from an approved RN program, be of good moral character etc. Hope this helps answer the question...you have several right on responses.

not possible. military corpsmen/medics can challenge the lvn boards but in order to take the rn nclex you have to go back to school.
