:idea:hi im just new here in this great nursing site, i just took the nclex and it turned out that its not time for me yet to pass it. i was hurt so bad but life must go on and i thank god for giving me the strength to plan ahead with his guidance. i just want to ask opinions from all of yu guys, if wat dyou think is the next best step il make after i fail my 1st take. in my mind, im thinking of..will i go back to work again and just take the nclex some other time or will i start reviewing much harder now again for the nclex and take it again?... i took it last dec 2006 and im still down bout the results but i knw staying low wont help me see wats ahead of me. i realized that god really is working in our lives, itll not be in my own will, but his will. anyways, about my question im just curious if do i have to send all the documents i sent the first time i applied for nclex (i.e. transcripts, local license photocopy, another finger print card..etc..) or just the retake application form thats inside the mail that they sent together with my previous nclex result? also, it says there i have to pay $75 for the retake..is that all? or theres another amount they'll ask me to pay for the retake aside from the $75..please fellow nurses help me with this. i want to really work as a usrn in california. il appreciate all the informations you'll reply to me with regards to how to, and the requirements for nclex retake. thank you to all of you guys. godbless.

That's all you have to do. They already have all your records/documents so no need to re-send any of those.

It is hard when you fail I know as I passed on my third attempt. Just follow instructions and any payment as then study some more.
Check out the NCLEX forum there may be some ideas regarding studying and support

Just the $75 fee with the application for CA, but you also need to pay another exam fee to Pearson-Vue to take the exam after CA gives you permission.
thanks alot guys..now i found out for myself that this site really is a nurse friendly site! thank you..to you silverdragon, i just want to say to you my personal msg for u..im inspired that youve took that courage to make it til the 3rd try. i salute you.:yelclap: tnx lawrence and suzzane. i feel ur all really nice people. tnx alot..but how bout ..will i work ? or start reviewing again? just want some opinion friends..hope u can help me decide. tnx
oh and also how bout the FINGER PRINT CARD..do i have to send a new one again to the cali bon? and do you know how much will i have to pay aside form the $75 for the retake application? thanks alot ..pls help me..tnx Godbless
thank you :)
I doubt that you have to send the finger print card again. Also the only other fee to pay is how ever much it is to pay pearsonvue to resit the NCLEX. Whether you work is up to you. I worked full time and did approx 1 hour of study questions every night. I used only 2 books Kaplan and Saunders but found Saunders gave the best questions and rational
Good luck
thanks again silver. also, i thikn il take ur advice in reviewing saunders..yah knw im planning to teach a nursing class..im just having that idea..u thought of atleast i can still study for nclex since what il teach will be based on books as well..still thinking and praying about it..wat do you think?:spam:
suggest that you focus on either passing the nclex exam or working. you did not pass the first time, so it is going to take more work for you to pass this time. preparation for the nclex exam is very different from what is taught in nursing school, completely two different approaches.
pass rate on the nclex-rn exam for a foreign trained rn is only about 45% the first time around.
No, you don't have to re-send it. Just the re-application forms and the $75 fee plus of course you have to pay again pearsonvue once they give you eligibilioty again. You can use your previous account w/ pearson and "re-apply" again.
you know guys..you are so wonderful! thank you thank you thank you!:thankya: very helpful peeps around here! wow! thanks again..suzanne thanks for the advice, im really praying hard for that u know..after i failed my first attempt ive learned that taking time to think and ask opinions of others especially my fellow nurses really helps me alot in deciding wat to do and wats best. god really is working in our lives, ive been praying bout his guidance and i feel like he's leading me to peeps who wud really help me. im glad to be part of this happy nursing site. more blessings to be upon you suzanne and lawrence.people like you will really be blessed by him.
Thanks. Focus on reviewing for the NCLEX.
