HfCC waiting list

Published

Does anyone know what the average wait list time to get into the nursing program at Henry Ford Community College is? Also what are all the requirements so that I can make sure I have all my ducks in a row. :redbeathe:redbeathe:uhoh3:

I got an update today (8/10). She said they will admit 120 in January, and will also be starting a new May entry (unknown how many people). I'm 114 on the list, so I should be invited for Jan. (whew!). Hope this helps anyone else on the list.

Wow, Im super excited, I was getting worried, as I was put on the list in july of 08. That is definately good news!:D

Hey everyone.

BIG NEWS!!!

Okay, I've been in and out of the office since I've got the letter stating they have extended their waiting list. I have never been given false hope, but rather say some estimate number of admissions for the nursing program. Finally, just yesterday... I got the definite number of students for the Fall and Spring batch of 2010.

This is their definite decision for the winter and spring batch: they'll be admitting 40 for this winter of 2010 and 80 for the Spring of 2010. I'll be called for the Fall of 2010. Yipee!!!:yeah:

gentle tos reminder:

while it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:

  1. it is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. your privacy is paramount to us.
  2. while allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.
  3. please do not give out personal information about others. do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs.

I'm beginning to realize that nothing is definite at HFCC until it has already happened. The admittance numbers change more often than the weather in Michigan!

i completely understand your frustration. but this time, (moderator edit of name) said that they'd be sending the invitation for the winter batch pretty soon, and they'd be only admitting 40 for the winter semester (this number is definite). as for the spring batch, it is definite that they would have a "spring semester" which is great (before they were undecided about this), but the number might change, but the least that they would admit is 80. hope this helps. find your number on the list.:coollook: let's be optimistic. we'll get there. ;)

Do you have to go in the summer for the spring entrance.

I went to the office yesterday, and indeed the current plan is for 40 to be admitted in January and 80 to be admitted in May. My position on the list is 120- are you kidding me? We'll see if I have any fingernails left by May!

Also, the college is discussing the possibility of building in a break for winter and spring starters. Apparently the straight-through schedule is causing more burnout and a higher failure rate in these semesters.

Jim, this kinda made me worry. On 08/10, they told you that you were 114 on the list... and just on your recent visit, they told you that you're 120 on the list. I strongly suggest that you double check on this for your own good.

I did. There were six readmits that had some sort of priority that kicked me back.

You mean, our spot could change on the list? :o This makes me worry now.

I went to the nursing counselling office early today (Nov. 10, 2009). They confirmed that the number of admissions for the Winter 2010 (40), Spring 2010 (80), Fall 2010 (160), Winter 2011 (80), & Spring 2011 (80) has been officially approved from the nursing department itself. :yeah:Nursing program, here I come!!! I'll always be optimistic about this. :loveya:
