HESI vs NCLEX-RN

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I was wondering, for those who have taken both, how they compare? My NCLEX test day is wednesday and i am FREAKING out, i have a ton riding on a pass from this exam. I have taken the HESI twice while in school and have done well over "passing".

Any extra advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. Its amazing how studying for the NCLEX can make someone feel so stupid :crying2:

In my opinion, the HESI is basic - I had to take that as an entrance test to even get looked at for my nursing program.

The NCLEX is in a whole other realm. If you asked me.

If you have studied, then you go in stay cool calm and collected and get those letters!!

I will say a prayer for you!!

At this point you need to relax. Good luck.

I havent taken min yet either. Everyone who i've talked to says Hesi is way harder than NCLEX. We took an entrance Hesi Exam but that was basic like and ACT/SAT. There's also others that are little bit different. Then we took another every semester which added on more and more material with the last being on everything we've learned (maternity, peds, med surg, management delegation). Our teachers say this is supposed to be a "predictor test"

Are you talking about the exit HESI? If so, every RN I've asked has said it's much harder than NCLEX. That being said, I have no idea how they can think that lol I admit to finding the exit HESI relatively easy to pass but the Kaplan questions I'm doing are keeping me on my toes. Compared to the practice questions, HESI seems more content than application based - so basically, the fail level of questions on NCLEX.

I can't state my official opinion until after I've taken NCLEX, of course. Good luck with yours! Take a deep breath and relax - that always helps :)

I found Exit Hesi to be extremely easy and ended up scoring 985. With the Hesi I knew I did well and was certain about my answers but the Nclex didn't make me feel certain about my correctness. I passed both on my first try and my nclex turned off at 75 questions, but I lacked the confidence that I had with Hesi. Also, to clarify entrance and exit Hesi exams are Nothing alike so don't assume that since the entrance exam was easy that you shouldn't study for the exit.

Fyi: I used Saunders books, kaplan online to study with.

I found HESI to be difficult. We had a mid-HESI and an exit HESI, I did below the standard of 850 that they say is what you need to pass NCLEX. HESI was content based, which we didn't learn every little detail in school, so a lot of it I had never heard of. NCLEX was applying what you know, so I found it much easier. Passed with 75 questions, 1st time.

I used Saunders Q&A book and just did questions. I did about 150 questions a day for 3 weeks. Found that the questions were most formatted like the NCLEX.
