HESI test question

I have been reviewing the HESI manual and taking the tests on the CD that came with the book. I am getting discouraged because I'm only scoring in the low 70s on the tests. I have to make at least a 900 on the test to pass. Does anyone know what a 900 translates into percentage-wise? I have yet to hear what the maximum score can be on the HESI. Any advice and encouragement would be appreciated.

I am about to take the Hesi and did not get a cd with my study manual is there a site where you can get practice questions,or can you tell me where to find the study cd.

OMG!!!!! I NEED EMERGENCY HESI HELP! ANYONE HAVE ANY KIND OF HESI QUESTIONS THEY CAN ATTACH TO AN EMAIL AND SEND TO ME! I dont know why I dodnt think of this before, but I'm nearing the end of my second semester of my RN semester and I guess I didnt realize the Hesi test was that of an LPN test only worth 15 points of our grade, but even though I'm passing, and I'm taking this Hesi next week wednesday and If I dont pass with the standard 80% or better, I fail my whole second semester of clinicals! ***!

NOW, i'm freaking out here, and it's almost 0230 and i'm looking for something other than medspub to help me study for this hesi test!

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANYTHING TO THROW MY WAY LAST MINUTE? QUESTIONS TO ATTACH TO AN EMAIL? ANYTHING??? IDEAS? I'M OPEN TO ANYTHING!

SO GREATLY APPRECIATED. I'm reading all these comments people wrote on their hesi experience and I'm getting worried! :o

Check out Suzanne's first tip. Be careful though cramming may make it worse,

Basically do the quizzes at the end of each chapter in Saunders and review the chapter if you get under 75%

Thank you so much! And it looks as if the weather was on my side. 12inches plus is a wonderful thing! :yeah: more study time. Ive just been taking my time studing for this hesi test. I'm confused on what it counts for. Our school just started doing them a year ago and only used to be worth 5 extra points towards your grade, well now they are worth 15 points towards your grade and people are failing now bc of them, and the thing is, is that it's an LPN test, which isn't even what we are going to school for, for one and what I think is funny is the line they drop all the time, "You are nurses now, so start thinking like one!" now they send us to think like an LPN! gosh. So if even though at this point right here I am passing everything, If i fail this hesi I fail my clinical. And bc cause I failed my clinical last semester due to 1 point on a math test, I will then be kicked out of the RN program! Lets NOT fail this hesi (LPN) test huh, I am A Nurse! (TO BE).......

the funny thing...... I dont know about you guys, but our hesi, is just for state purpose. Ya know stats. If I pass, I should at least GET my LPN license right! LOL (yea right)

Do not waste your time on that CD. The HESI test was not anything like the CD. The CD was harder. Put it away. I did Suzanne's first tip and I did Saunders nclex questions on CD and NCSBN. I scored 50's on that stupid CD and had myself freaked out and convinced I was going to fail. I passed with an 877. We had to make an 850 to pass. Remember to go over your calculations. I did not review those and I should have because I missed 2 and had I got those right, my score would have been higher. My score of 877 translated into an 81%. Do Suzanne's first tip-it works. I really felt the HESI was knowledge based.

Hi everyone,

If there is anyone out there that can tell me what the true purpose behind these Hesi tests are, that would wonderful. This is valuable information to me right now. And I need multiple people to respond to this. Also, what I need to know, is how the Hesi can effect your grade as far as you passing or failing clinical.

what I mean by that is, if you have a passing grade when you sit down to take hesi, and you fail hesi, can this failing hesi then... make you all of a sudden fail your clinical when your all done and you have all ready been told you passed? Its like getting some negative percentage somewhere in there.

Mainly I need to know the purpose of the HESU exame! PLEASE! SOMEONE TELL ME THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THIS EXAM!

THANK YOU.

Well... in my opinion, the purpose is to test you on the cumulative information that you have retained in your years in nursing school. Sort of like a pre-NCLEX, or to know if you have retained enough to meet the minimum requirements to be a safe nurse. Or to determine if you are ready to take the NCLEX or if maybe you need a little remediation before taking Boards.

Why the cut off is 850, 870, or 900 at some schools, I have no idea. In my program, we had a HESI final exam each quarter that counted for 25% of our grade. Then we had a Mid-Curriculum HESI after we completed OB/PEDS, and then an Exit HESI after finishing the last quarter. Both our Mid-Curriculum and Exit had to be 850 and we had 3 chances.

I understand why so many people are upset about HESI because I am tutoring a student right now who is preparing to take her 3rd and final attempt at the Exit HESI on Tuesday. I feel terrible for her and I am doing anything I can do to help her. She is an awesome nurse. She just does not test well. I have always been very successful on HESI's so I hope I can give her a few test taking strategies and helpful tips so that she will pass this time.

So if she does not pass her third attempt, what will happen to her? Theres is a good reason I ask, and I will explain it, I just want to find out all the facts before I start running my mouth, ya know. I can feel for her though. Thats so great what you are doing for her, it really is. So are you guys still students? So pretty much, the hesi, you wouls say to sum it up is like to see how much the students know and or to see how well they would do on the boards, per say if they would pass or not or if they are ready to even take them.

And the Hesi test that you guys do, Do affect your final grade, so what your saying is, the Hesi can bring your grade down to a failing grade?

Well lets say this, lets say your going to take your third exit hesi, and when you sit down to take it you have a passing grade, and you happen to fail your third exit hesi, does that mean you have to repeat now? Or would it just bring your grade down or not affect it at all.

Now what would happen if you pass that third exit hesi, you go on to your next semester right?

Dont worry I will explain all my questions to you! And this will all make sense! Sorry if I'm confusing you!

To anyone about to take the hesi, I just took it. If you want to know what to study. And just know, They may not be the same. But a majority of the hesi I took was about the LPN delegating to the UCP (unlicenced care provider) there was 110 questions, each worth 100 points, making the test worth a total of 1100points. we needed an 850 or better to pass. Also dont forget each school is different on what they require a passing score. Best of luck to anyone taking this!

If the school requires HESI and the student fails the amount of times the school allocates then they do not graduate and can not sit NCLEX. If it is during the course year and the student keeps failing then I should image the student is let go

Suzanne's first tip has helped many pass HESI
