Hesi Test Abuse??
I agree with you totally! but what the schools not realizing when they do this, is that in return, while they are making themselves try to look good with stats on the NCLEX, they are taking a bigger down fall in return, as in my case because I am not the only one this has happened to! Last semester our standers got raised as far as our passing percentage, it used to be 77%, it is now 80%, why because students from our school are failing boards, now there is this hesi, while people only got 5 points before, now we get 15, since we have been getting 15 stundents grades have been affected and have been failing becuase of this. And student have been failing so much because of thi hesi test ok, that for next semester, AND THIS I NOT A JOKE!, that school have to cancel more than half of their second semester and third semester clinicals because so many student failed between first and second semesters on the hesi. So now look at the hesi and decide, is it really worth risking that much academic failure in between? because someone is gonna notice, cause I have and I have an appt. with the dean next week per, her request. Now wait till all that failure goes public, then see if it is all worth it, cause for that schools sake, I can bet it wont be. I'm sure there is a better way they can go about it with out screwing their studentd so badly!

HESI test question
if you have the saunders, NCLEX, do the quizes they have after each chapter or what ever they refer to them as, and when you do them, if you get below a 75% you need to study more. I just did the hesi last week, and for our hesi I can tell there wherre alot of questions on the LPN delegating to the UCP (unlicenced care personel) there was math on there, percentage of newborn weight loss and safe dosages. there was like 2 or 3 mental health. the majority of ours though was the LPN delegating to the UCP. and the LPN on giving meds to children when they dont want to take them. there was 110 questions each worth 100 points so total you can get is 1100. but if you have the NCLEX, Saunders, study that, do the quizes, or what I used also was the NCLEX hesi book, those are nice cause they have hesi tips.

Hesi Test Abuse??
Here's one for everybody. our school just changed their policy on Hesi. Used to only be worth 5 points toward your final grade, if you passed you got an extra 5 points toward your final grade in clinical, in you failed it could not hurt you, if you where failing clinical at the time you took hesi, hesi could help bring your grade up to a passing grade of 80% or better. Well our nursing board thought the students where not studying for the Hesi so they raised the points to 15 point. So our hesi is now worth 15 points. This past week I sat down with my instructor and she told me I was passing with better than an 80%, that next day we had the hesi test, I am not good at test taking, I was not nervous, I'm just not good with test, we have one chance at it, 850 or better. I failed, and because I failed and even though I was passing with better than an 80%, hesi brought my grade BELOW the 80%, now failing. Because I am now failing clinical, failed hesi, and yes everyone this was my first hesi ever, one more semester left..... the school kicked me out of their nursing program! This was my first time doing this clinical, i was NOT repeating it! I had passed all my other classes, and had one semester to go, and about over 20,000 in financial aid no job cause all my time went toward scool and this is what I got out of hesi SO YES, I AGREE WITH YOU. HESI ABUSE ALL THE WAY! I DONT THINK THIS IS FAIR AT ALL.

HESI test question
To anyone about to take the hesi, I just took it. If you want to know what to study. And just know, They may not be the same. But a majority of the hesi I took was about the LPN delegating to the UCP (unlicenced care provider) there was 110 questions, each worth 100 points, making the test worth a total of 1100points. we needed an 850 or better to pass. Also dont forget each school is different on what they require a passing score. Best of luck to anyone taking this!

HESI test question
So if she does not pass her third attempt, what will happen to her? Theres is a good reason I ask, and I will explain it, I just want to find out all the facts before I start running my mouth, ya know. I can feel for her though. Thats so great what you are doing for her, it really is. So are you guys still students? So pretty much, the hesi, you wouls say to sum it up is like to see how much the students know and or to see how well they would do on the boards, per say if they would pass or not or if they are ready to even take them. And the Hesi test that you guys do, Do affect your final grade, so what your saying is, the Hesi can bring your grade down to a failing grade? Well lets say this, lets say your going to take your third exit hesi, and when you sit down to take it you have a passing grade, and you happen to fail your third exit hesi, does that mean you have to repeat now? Or would it just bring your grade down or not affect it at all. Now what would happen if you pass that third exit hesi, you go on to your next semester right? Dont worry I will explain all my questions to you! And this will all make sense! Sorry if I'm confusing you!

HESI test question
Hi everyone, If there is anyone out there that can tell me what the true purpose behind these Hesi tests are, that would wonderful. This is valuable information to me right now. And I need multiple people to respond to this. Also, what I need to know, is how the Hesi can effect your grade as far as you passing or failing clinical. what I mean by that is, if you have a passing grade when you sit down to take hesi, and you fail hesi, can this failing hesi then... make you all of a sudden fail your clinical when your all done and you have all ready been told you passed? Its like getting some negative percentage somewhere in there. Mainly I need to know the purpose of the HESU exame! PLEASE! SOMEONE TELL ME THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THIS EXAM! THANK YOU.

HESI test question
Thank you so much! And it looks as if the weather was on my side. 12inches plus is a wonderful thing! more study time. Ive just been taking my time studing for this hesi test. I'm confused on what it counts for. Our school just started doing them a year ago and only used to be worth 5 extra points towards your grade, well now they are worth 15 points towards your grade and people are failing now bc of them, and the thing is, is that it's an LPN test, which isn't even what we are going to school for, for one and what I think is funny is the line they drop all the time, "You are nurses now, so start thinking like one!" now they send us to think like an LPN! gosh. So if even though at this point right here I am passing everything, If i fail this hesi I fail my clinical. And bc cause I failed my clinical last semester due to 1 point on a math test, I will then be kicked out of the RN program! Lets NOT fail this hesi (LPN) test huh, I am A Nurse! (TO BE)....... the funny thing...... I dont know about you guys, but our hesi, is just for state purpose. Ya know stats. If I pass, I should at least GET my LPN license right! LOL (yea right)

yet another care plan question!
yea I hate care plans! I used ineffective tissue perfusion; pulmonary and peripheral R/T obstructed pulmonary and venous blood flow secondary to venous thrombi As evidenced by patient complains of pain in LLE, tenderness on palpation in LLE, positive Homen's sign in LLE, swelling and +1 pitting edema in LLE, SOB and dyspnea on exertion worsening on admission, pleuritic chest pain, past history of DVT and massive PE subjected to embolectomy, tachycardia, D-dimer H at 16.42, Doppler studies of LLE presenting thrombus within common femoral, superficial femoral and popliteal veins, and posterior tibial vein demonstrating little flow. There is also a thrombus within the saphenous as well. Thats my nursing diagnosis part of my care plan, I dont know if I can actually use both the pulmonary and peripheral in one diagnosis like that, but I figure I will give it a go! I'm having a problem with my Nursing Interventions too. I found some online but I only found the one's for circulatory, so I don't know if I need more or not, I don't have any Interventions that say anything about the teds? I hate care plans! Well Good luck to you!

yet another care plan question!
OK, I'M SORRY BUT ABOUT YOUR CARE PLAN QUESTION! That's just a little too odd because I have been searching all day long for help on this paper I'm doing right now for my clinical, I'm a second time, second semester student, we have these hudge papers to do on our patients that include care plans and for the first time, I can NOT come up with a Nursing diagnosis! I think you will be able to relate to my set back here! TOO WEIRD! My patient is an 82 year-old female who presented to the emergency department on 10-30-08 w/ complains of LLE pain, swelling and SOB for approximately 1 week, worsening on day of admission. Patient reports that she has also been increasingly SOB on exertion and had some mild pleuritic chest pain. Per patient's request, coumadin therapy was discontinued approx. 1 month prior to admission. PATIENT HAS A SIGNIFICANT PAST HISTORY OF DVT OF THE RLE SUBSEQUENT TO MASSIVE PE THAT REQUIRED EMERGENCY EMBOLECTOMY. Upon admission to facility patient was symptomatic with acute on chronic anemia agreed to transfuse 2 units PRBC. Patient will require life long anticoagulation therapy. (THIS WAS ONE THING I CAME ACROSS FOR A DIAGNOSIS, BUT I SAW IT MORE AS A RISK FOR, AND WE CAN NOT USE RISK FOR'S) IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME OUT TOO, IT WOULD BE SOOOO APPRECIATED CAUSE I'M JUST AT A LOSE HERE, I too came up with ineffective tissue perfussion, then I kinda said looked at both DVT and PE and asked my self, which one is more life threatning, PE! So then I revised and came up with sudden death! cause you have that golden hour, that falls under risk for! AAAAAHHHHHHH! I DONT KNOW!!!! OMG I suppose you all want to know what her actual diagnosis was! duh, patient was admitted to the hospital with recurrent episode of DVT with PE!
