Hi, I am applying for UT health science center and was wondering what people have scored on their Hesi A2 exam..?, so I can see what the approximate average score is....
Mine was
1) Reading Comprehension: 86.96
2) Meaning-Word Use: 100
3) Conclusions: 100
4) Implications: 91.67
5) Understanding: 75
6) Grammar: 94
7) Vocabulary & General Knowledge: 90
English Language composite Score: 90.32
8) Biology: 84
9) Chemistry: 100
10) Anatomy & Physiology: 96
Science Composite Score: 93.33
11) Math: 100
Cumulative Score: 92.99
Critical Thinking Score: 820
Ok, I am really worried because my test did not have a critical thinking section?! and I'm suppose to take it for the other schools I am applying to...
Also, I don't know if my scores are competitive enough? And there was a question on the math section, that I will not post because of the copyright... but I'm 100% sure there's an error on that question because the answer was not there...
1) Reading Comprehension: 86.96
2) Meaning-Word Use: 85.71
3) Conclusions: 85.71
4) Implications: 91.67
5) Understanding: 85
6) Grammar: 92
7) Vocabulary & General Knowledge: 94
English Language composite Score: 90.99
8) Biology: 92
9) Chemistry: 88
10) Anatomy & Physiology: 88
Science Composite Score: 89.33
11) Math: 98
Cumulative Score: 91.28
Should I call Elseiver about the math question?
Hi PamQ,
Do you mean you didn't take the Critical Thinking at all, or that your score report doesn't show the Critical Thinking part? I was told the overall score report doesn't display the Critical Thinking score.
Regarding the math, I believe the questions are correct. I scored 100% in Math, and I think a few others did too.
Can somebody please tell me the format of the exam? The Hesi Evolve Reach Admission Assessment book does not explain the format clearly... also, I'm taking all sections so any information will be helpful... as in the amount of time allotted for each. And what is the critical thinking section about? Is it just scenarios a nurse would possibly go through and what you would do as a nurse? Thanks!
HESI A2 Test is a link that might help you.
5 sections, and you can do them in any order, at your own speed, and you have the total time allotted of 3 or 4 hours or whatever your school wants to make it. You an put the test on pause for a restroom break, but the clock keeps running. I'd plan on keeping a fairly brisk pace to get all of it finished.
The 6th section on learning styles and whatever mya be optional, or your school may require it. Listen carefully.
That 60-day waiting period to re-take it can be waived at the discretion of the school, I believe. I know for certain that the school can do that with the NLN PAX exams, a similar test that's made by a different company. Also, from what I understand, the individual schools can customize the HESI questions somewhat, and there may be questions on there that are not scored. I suspect that what this does is serve as a tie-breaker, or it helps the schools identify the top academic students. It's kind of a separate scholastic achievement test, of sorts. Those questions may not count in the official score, but the school still gets to see which applicants are the best-schooled. In times of massive quantities of applicants, schools can be choosy.
Don't take what I say as gospel. I took my admission tests 1 year to 6 months ago, and they are mot fresh in my mind.
Has anyone here applied to the UTHSC Houston Accelerated Second Degree (Bacc2) Program? I'm scheduled to take the HESI A2 Entrance Exam in September. The school's website states that the School of Nursing requires applicants to complete the following eight (8) components of the HESI A2 Entrance Test: Math, Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary and General Knowledge, Grammar, Anatomy and Physiology, Critical Thinking, Learning Styles and Personality Styles. The book, however, that I purchased to study (Evolve Reach Admission Assessment Exam Review 2nd Edition by Mosby) includes Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Do I need to know these subjects for the HESI A2 exam? I'm confused... I don't want to study sections that aren't going to be on the exam, but I don't want to not be prepared either.
You do have to take those sections... but it is not required for UTHSC-Houston. The only scores UTHSC Houston will look at are Math, Reading Comprehension, Vocab & General Knowledge, Grammar, A&P, Critical Thinking, and Learning Styles/Personality... The last 2 section are not graded (Learning Styles/ Critical Thinking)... when I say not graded, I mean there is no numerical value, it's just for UTHSC to see what type of personality you have and how you think in triage situations. I'd call Evolve... the company that makes HESI A2... and ask that if you skip Biology and Chemistry on the test, will it affect your score? Oh I didn't mention this earlier... but there is no Physics section on the HESI A2 test... at least not that I know of... I do not know why it is in the study guide. I took the test last week and it was not on the test. Just ignore the Physics section. The study guide is a God send! If you do the study guide, I PROMISE YOU, you will do well on the test! Come test day... you will choose which sections you want to take/ what order. It just lists all sections available and you choose which ones you want to take first. After you are done with a particular section it takes you back to the home screen and asks if you want to view your score of the section you just took and then you just proceed with the test from there... you choose the 2nd section you want to take. Just because you are taking the test for UTHSC Houston, doesn't mean that Biology and Chemistry won't be on there... which is why I suggest you call Evolve.
I am taking the HESI tomorrow 8/26 for Spring 2011 admissions (application due 9/1/10). My friend told me that you get your score immediately. Does UT-Houston also receive the scores immediatly? I'm worried I'm cutting it too close.......
romee84, does your HESI show up on UT link yet? I took mine on 8/25 and it is not showing up on UT link as received-- I am nervous!!
