Published

Hey everyone this is my first post on this website. I'm planning on applying to prairie view nursing school and wanted to kno if anyone could help me out, I'm takin classes at a community college and I won't be able to apply until October cuz I won't have all 63 hours done. I called up and asked when I'm suppose to take the hesi exam and the lady said that I can take it may 5 but I need to apply before april28(i won't have 63hours-which they require) and plus I haven't taken anatomy(will take it in summer2010) how am I suppose to kno what will be on the exam! I'm so stressed I don't wanna wait anoter semester just bcuz of hesi:-(( please help someone!!!!!!!!

How do I study for the hesi????

depends on what portions you have to take. the review book is great for everything except the science portion. at least thats what i heard . im taking it in the end of april

Are u takin it for prairie view???? Thanks for ur reply tho

So did you Ms.Anderson tell you that the Hesi Exam was available to take on May 5th?

are there any other transfer students who have registered for the hesi exam this coming may, who are planning on applying for the basic bsn for spring 2011. have any of you been successful in registering to take the test in houston for this may?....just asking.

I am refering to Prairie View appliclants who are applying for the basic upper level portion in Houston.

I haven't get registered for the exam cuz I'm takin A&P over the summer and I wanna take the hesi after taking those classes. Have u applied to go to prairie view spring 2011???

No, though I have everything completed, I'm being told that P.V. Houston is still working out issues with the Hesi exam and no one has been scheduled for May due to this per Ms. Anderson. I was told that I can't pay for it because there is no price yet, etc. Do you know who you spoke with?

I went up there a couple weeks ago and the admission advisor was at lunch so I talked to the lady that sits in the front. She told me that I have to sign up for the hesi before April 28. But I'm not gonna take the one in may so I asked her what are the further dates for the hesi and she said there are no dates yet:-//!

You've applied to start in spring2011 or fall2010????

I haven't started anything yet! I still have 6 classes to take so I'm gonna apply after the summer. Do u know if it's hard or easy to get into pv's nursing program????

Wish u best of luck and do reply:-))

Hello,

I just got accepted in PV for Fall 2010 (actually gonna take a class this summer so summer 2010?) and i kinda wanted to see if i can ans a few of ur questions.

Yes they did switch the test to the Hesi. Those coming in for Fall 2010 where the last to take the NET.

From what i understand the HESI has 3 parts. Math, Reading and A&P but there is a booklet out there that you can get to study with.

When i took the NET, i had to take it at PV. They wouldn't accept my scores from anywhere else, so that kind of sucked. What i am hearing about the HESI is that you can take it @ one of the centers and mail in your scores so thats kind of good. I had to take the NET twice. One for PV and the other one so i could mail to other schools. (PV wont let you mail theirs which sucked cuz i did better on there's)

I don't know about it being hard but PV like every nursing school is competitive to get into. They look at EVERYTHING; your GPA, your test scores and how far along you are with your pre-reqs.

I do know that they are first come first serve. What that means is that as soon as you turn in everything, they start processing your application. For example, if they are gonna take 80 students, the first 80 students who meet their criteria get chosen and receive their letters. So even if you turn in everything and you have wonderful GPA's and test scores but ur application was turned in late, you may not get in.

I actually hand delivered all my stuff (paid for parking too) and they stamped it with the date and time.

Also it would be good to be done with all your science pre-reqs or at least have only one left when you do apply. I know people who were taking maybe 2 science classes and were put on the wait list. They give priorities to those who are done. All i'm taking this semester is Intro to Philosophy and Govt1 and i got accepted.

I hope this helps you alll.

Good luck.

Hi! First of all congrats on getting accepted into PV! And thanks for the information u shared with us! I'm planning on applying in August, cuz I wanna be done with A&P1,2 before I apply, which I'll be taking over the summer. After that I'll only have microbiology to take in the fall. So I hope everything works out!

When I started college in 2007, mid semester my mom had a stroke overseas so I had to drop classes and go where my mom was so I retook chemistry class! So I was kinda freaked out cuz of that cuz their website says that one of the requirments is that we canT repeat any science course I really didn't kno what that meant. And what else....hhmmmm....right now I have a GPA of 3.2 amd I hope it gets better when I finish summer school. Cuz I'm thinking of applying right after summer school ends cuz the deadline is October first I dunno if applying end of august would qualify for the "first come first serve" admission!! I hope so!!

And about the HESI, I'm glad there is only math, reading, and a&p! Some hesi exams have physics and stuff on it too!

The only thing I'm confused about is if I should go ahead and apply??? Or wait for my A&P 1&2 to be done over the summer??? Will END of august be late???? I hate being confused!!!

Thanks for ur help and good luck starting in the summer! Keep us updated about ur experience!
