Hello everyone, I will be starting the new PMHNP program at Herzing University in September. Trying to see if there is anyone else that will be starting the program so that we can connect. Since it's a new program, there is no topic about this specialty and maybe this can provide opportunity for potential students to discuss.
Where are you located? I start the program in November and my first clinical is in the Summer. I have started looking and have a few prospects.

I am in San Diego, CA. I’m from Florida so I don’t have great connections here. Especially with the pandemic. ? My current hospital is not accepting students at this time even though I work there. And the major schools here have a monopoly on clinical sites. Go figure. Been calling day and night. Anyone have any connections here? It’s for NU610 which is advanced health assessment.
It can be literally any of these:
Rehabilitation facilities, family-based practice facilities, retail health clinics that conduct primary care, medical centers that have a primary care focus, community-based clinics, urgent cares that conduct primary care, federally funded clinics, and VA Hospitals that have primary care clinics, extended care facilities, and mobile health centers
Have you reached out to the clinical coordinator by email? Look in the clinical approval process FAQ document for guidance.

I did. She told me:
“You guys are adults, you should be able to figure it out.” Along with “you signed a paper on admission to Herzing acknowledging that you will find your own preceptor.”
I don’t remember signing anything as such, and I also asked for a copy of this information. I’m also writing this so others will be fully aware of this before applying to Herzing. When I was speaking with an admissions coordinator, she specifically told me they will help you with placements if you can’t find one. That has proven false.

I agree. I already have one locked in for January at $1300 from Preceptor Link just in case. Definitely, not an ideal situation. Disappointed with Herzing for sure.
Hi guys! I am so proud of what you are doing and I know that you will succeed! I just found out about the schools program Nov 3rd so needless to say I missed the Nov 2nd start and will be starting the PMC-PMHNP program in January of 2021! I had prev signed up with Walden but their PMC program is not yet accredited due to set backs with their accrediting visit and COVID-19. I am in the DMV area .

My advisor said in your 3rd and 5th semester you can possibly do them together because you only have one clinical in each of those semesters. She said you would have to get approval and show that you are capable of doing so before they let you. Such as - good grades, work schedule flexibility, on-time assignments, etc. and potentially knock off a semester.
Hello everyone! I started the post-masters certificate for PMHNP program this past September at Herzing. So far it has been an amazing experience. I just got done with advanced pathophysiology about 2 weeks ago and made an A in the class. Currently, I am in advanced pharmacology.
I know many prospective students are wondering what these classes are like. Advanced pathophysiology was a 8 week long class, we had one discussion due every week on Wednesday, 2 responses to other's discussion post due every Sunday, a quiz due every Sunday, and had two papers in the class. As far as advanced pharmacology, it's more of a workload compared to advanced pathophysiology. We have two discussions due each week (one on Wednesday and one on Friday) with two responses for each discussion (so that is 4 discussion responses total per week all due by Sunday), have a quiz due every Sunday, and have an "assignment" due every Sunday (these assignments are either online "lab" or papers).
I do not know much about rest of the classes. But if any past students know what kind of work is given in advanced health assessment, clinical decision-making, roles of NP and the clinical, please feel free to post it on here. I know we are the first PMHNP cohort so we won't know much about the PMHNP clinical, but I'm sure it is a similar workload as the FNP clinicals.
Hey @Themollylama ! When I initially applied to Herzing, I saw that they were advertising that the program can be done in 20 months, however, my advisor was sooo stuck on how it can only be completed in 24 months. I asked her if I am able to double up on classes since I am able to quit my job and just focus on school full-time, however she said it was impossible. Who was your advisor that said that the 3rd and 5th semester can be combined? I would love to complete this program in 20 months if possible! I even asked them if I can combine semester 4 and 5 together since it will be possible for me to get 180 hours in 16 weeks, but she said that wouldn't be possible since semester 4 builds on semester 5.
I believe the 20 months come into play when you already have a Master's Degree. I am in the Post Master's program and it will take 20 months. I was going to start November 2, but changed to start in January 2021. My first 2 classes will be Advance Patho and Advance Pharm. Hope this helps ?

Hey @Ebonybrn1! I am also in the post-masters certificate program. I have my master's in nursing. I don't know why they told me there is no way I can get the program done in 20 months (like they had it advertised). Who is your advisor? I took advanced physio first half of this semester and currently talking advanced pharm.

Is anyone else having a hard time with their clinical placement sites during the pandemic? I’ve called Herzing and they are completely absent during this time. I’ve called hundreds of places up to 100 miles out.
