Howdy,
Didn't see a thread for this start date.
Anyone accepted for the mid January start @ herzing for psych NP?

I haven't applied yet - but am planning to apply to Herzing for Spring. I'm already working as a psych NP but want the board certification so I can better serve my patients (my boss hired me out of my FNP program after I interned with him during the Summer I graduated). I'm interested to hear how the program is. I have spoken some with admissions about starting the application process. Just need to get settled into my routine a bit more.
Are you applying for the full program or the post grad certificate like I am?

I will be starting in Spring 22 with you! So looking forward to it and hoping to connect with many more of us soon!
I am going to go full-time and really curious from past students how much time they put in per week for the FT program!

Hi all! I was just accepted into the PMHNP program beginning Jan 10. Would love to connect with all of you & help each other out!
Hey all! So I am starting the program in January, but feeling REALLY nervous about clinical placement. I was just warned by a nurse educator at the hospital that I work at the Herzing is on the "no-go" list. She said they have ended their contract with them for hosting RN students because of all kinds of issues with the school and lack of good preparation. This is clearly not the RN program, but given some pretty terrible reviews online (which I have chosen to look the other way on) and now my educators stroooooong warning...I am feeling really unsure that this program will set me (us) up for success. I have heard that setting up preceptors for this grad program is difficult anyway.
I am calling the school today and am going to nail down what EXACTLY they do to help us secure placement. If anyone out there has talked to them as well, or has talked to previous students about clinical placement and if it was difficult due to a bad school reputation, please let me (us) know!

Find a private practice PMHNP , they've been where you are. Any chance you have a psychiatric only emergency room near you?
Thank you AspiringNRS, I will look into these options.
My biggest fear is the Herzing has a bad reputation in my metro (Minneapolis) and that preceptors will not want to take me on because of this! Wondering if others have heard this as well!
Thank you kindly!
That makes me sad. It has a good rep in my area. I just went to a seminar featuring a psychiatrist from Emory (I'm already practicing in psychiatry - just really need to get the PMHNP so I can better serve my patients) who said he works very closely with Herzing, and that if I do end up taking courses there, we'll probably end up being in touch.
Thank you for sharing this! I so appreciate that a psychiatrist you know approves of the program. Perhaps it's just the undergrad RN program that is truly the problem, though reading through threads from earlier this year, it looks like others have had serious complaints.
That all said, I know these things are very subjective and most likely I will continue with the program regardless. I want this degree so badly and so hope that this school will be much better than I am fearing!
