Help!! Seeking a good LPN or RN program at a community college

Hello everyone, I'm looking for a good LPN or RN nursing program at a community college. A program that has understanding professors and doesn't cost too much. Also if anyone knows of a program that doesn't require an entrance exam. Thanks in advance.

Understanding professors and no entrance exam......well, at Olive Harvey everyone takes the placement exam upon enrollment. The compass and placement exam may be the same meaning you only take one exam upon enrollment and to determine admission into the RN program. The professors are 50/50 possibly at every college and university.

In reality, you will have to take your chances with having understandable professors because everyone experience good and bad days. Some professors may be excellent in clinicals however ok in lectures. Personal life experience will determine an individual's behavior the next day or minute. A professor may have a an excellent lecture at 11 am and then for whatever reasons have a horrible 1 pm clinical.

As an educator, may I please ask why you do not want to take an entrance exam? I hope I'm not being to personal because as quiet as its kept, I do not want to take another GRE exam for the MSN GEP program. Unfortnately, I have to do what needs to be done and I have wasted to much time on selecting a program that can give me exactly what I want. I just plan to study for the GRE and keep it moving.

My daugher just took her test for CNA and is going for free since she got a perfect score. Then on to RN applications... Testing is a part of the whole picture

I am already in a BSN nursing program and I didn't have to take an entrance exam. I know it sounds to good to be true but yes, I didn't have to take one. Now i'm trying to look for an LPN or RN program for my mother. So since my BSN program did not require an entrance exam, we are just trying to search around and see if there are any LPN or RN programs that don't require an entrance exam. If not, it's fine also but I just want a good program for her.

OK...now I understand why you are seeking an LPN program with not entrance exam. Personally, the compass exam at Olive Harvey is relatively easy and required for admission into the community college HOWEVER, utilized for the RN program. Also, OH is starting an LPN program. There are other community colleges, such as Kennedy King, that requires the TEAS exam....so, community colleges vary with entrance exams although the Nursing curriculum is identical. Also, what BSN program are you enrolled in that didn't require an entrance exam? I would love to attend.

Im currently searching (and searching) for a program that will lead me to not only an RN, but a BSN and eventually a Master's degree in Family Practice or Public Health. I haven't found any community colleges that offer BSNs and have accreditation. I prefer not to go the accelerated route as I've been out of school for 5 years and dont know if I want to jump into such an intense program like that. I'll do what I have to though. I also dont meet the requirements for a lot of schools: no GREs, no RN licensure, some of my undergrad courses have expired, the deadlines for a Fall start have passed and some schools are asking for ridiculous money as an out of state student.

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions?

I have a BS in Exercise Science, currently live in New Hampshire and really have nothing restricting me from relocating... besides my job and friends.

Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

SSC in South Holland is a good program. They do have an entrance exam. As far as understanding teachers, for the most part the teachers in the nursing program are great. The class size is not that big and in the end you begin to feel like family. Good Luck to your mom!

I no the university of san Francisco doesn't require one..... But would anyone know any RN programs that doesn't require in florida or New jersey?!?!
