sounds like for you that you have done alot in prep for this test and i can bet that you worked very hard in school. honestly after taking NCLEX I really felt that you cant really prepare for it that much. either your learned the stuff going through school or not. I think you just need to relax and make sure you sleep the night b4 your test!!!!!!!!

i honestly don't think i hv don a great job yet....it's sure dat, i realy working for it... either hard or light....and i realy in need of passing it.....i accept ur suggestion, dat i want a little relaxation now..but i can't relax due to my anxiety....but i am trying to cool myself.....thank u for ur support,,,

I graduated 2 years ago. 2 years! I am an American national but struggled through nursing school. I am a horrible test taker and didnt have even a 90% grasp of nursing core content and barley graduated. I have taken the NCLEX-RN twice and failed both times. I have depression and anxiety so you can possibly imagine how its affected me. Some advice, you can take it or not:

*Make sure you have a good understanding of the core content, if not

review what your weakest points are, and also look into the hurst review. It may be a little late to take the class because you testing in 8 days, but you can buy a review book at boarders that will highlight some strategies. Also reviews and rationals books have highlights of info from med surg and other text books from nursing school.

*Dont talk yourself into failing before you've even taken it. That really hurt me, I kept tyring to tell myself " you'll pass you'll do fine", but in reality I was dreading the test and felt like I was going to fail before I even started.

*Take some time for yourself. You cant study 24/7 and not expect to be burnt out or depressed.

*Get some exercise.

*Talk to your family, or friends, someone you know will help boost your self confidence. It is hard to go into the test if you have none.

*The NCLEX is nothing like the test prep or school test or review questions you've done. There are ultimately 4 correct answers and you have to pick the best one via process of elimination etc.

*Keep your head up, and I know it sounds bad, but the worst thing that can happen is you fail. If so, you may better know what to focus on and have a better understanding of what to prepare for once you know what the test is like. Just make sure you try to study enough and remember, you cant memorize everything. Try to memorize the basic side effects, and endings of medication classes as well as their action and function and interactions.

*Get enough sleep the night before, maybe go out with a friend and have a drink or 2 and dinner, but dont over do it on the drinks. This will help you relax some and try to keep telling yourself, "I'll do great, I just need to relax".

I'm currently doing the Hurst review and working full time and helping my fiance run our own business, but I plan on taking it again in the next 3 months and I WILL pass!

Good luck and I'm sure you'll do great!!! If you want to talk just PM me.

I just took my NCLEX and my classmates that have taken it have passed. We all did Kaplan and found that the questions are more NCLEX like. You sound like you have prepared yourself well. Now you just need to trust yourself. I get really bad anxiety too so my nurse friends gave me this advice for the test: DO NOT CRAM the day before, in fact try to do something that will take your mind off of it for that day. Make a test drive to the test site so you are not lost or rushing and know exactly where to go the morning of the test. Make sure you have your paperwork, ID, and whatever else you need the night before. TRY to get a good nights rest and then wake up in the morning with enough time to eat breakfast. Go into that test like you know the info because you do. Read the questions carefully, some questions may ask about statements that demonstrate the patient understands the instructions but some may ask which statement by the patient shows need for further instruction.A few words can change the meaning of a question. DO NOT compare yourself to others. If you see others getting up and leaving don't worry, your test and their test are different. You can do this, be positive and believe in yourself!

Good luck! I am a Canadian educated RN - just wrote my licensing exam for Canada in June, and writing NCLEX-RN in a few weeks (just waiting on that ATT).

Using Kaplan, Saunders, the Kaplan medication guide and a few iPhone apps, lol.

Also nervous as I have a job offer in the USA that depends on me passing the NCLEX... too much pressure!

Hoping for the best :)

I wish you guys all the best! You all will pass.

hi tk0224, you will pass! which iphone apps do you recommend?

Take the test when you are 100% ready. Reschedule it and take your time to review. I am a foreign BSN grad too and Im taking my test by next year, its my first time next year and I really stretched my time to review and recall all I have learned from PI. Goodluck!
