I'm in big trouble. I have a manager who for some reason is out to get the more experienced nurses off her unit. She herself has only been a nurse for about 10 yrs, most of us that are being persecuted have been nurses over 20.
I've been accused of not giving meds one night to a patient, but I did give them thier meds. I scanned them and gave them on time, but the patient states i did not. I can not prove I did, i just know I did. I would never not give meds Anyway if she terminates me i know she can submit it to GROUP ONE..but if i just get written up can i stick with it for a couple of weeks then give her a 2 week notice and quit safely or can she still stick it to me with GROUP ONE. She has threatened people before with group one and loves to tell us we are all easily replaceable. This is why there are now 15 nurses in our unit with only 3 of us with over 15 yrs experience, the rest..ALL under 3 yrs experience! Soon the unit will be run by fresh nurses, and since i learn something new daily after 18 yrs as a nurse, who is going to be teaching the 25 yr olds how to do it and do it well? Its so frustrating to me, but i do think its all about the budget and the fact most of us older nurses are ADN or DIPLOMA and the hospital wants BSN.. It sucks because I love where I work LOVE my patients and adore all my co workers, but management is out of control. We are a magnet hospital and one of the terms on magnet is that management should have 80% satisfaction rate from staff, but no one has ever even asked us if we are satisfied with her or not! ugh.
I'm scared to death of being blackballed due to a mean woman. I have never been written up in 18 yrs, im well liked by peers and patients (there is always going to be one patient who doesnt like you once in a while), have never been fired and generally get along well and am a good nurse and charge nurse, but this woman is out to get me!!!

You may be overreacting, but when you calm down and think about this rationally, you will probably find that it is in your best interest to start the job search now, while you still have some control over matters. This place sounds toxic. The sooner you get out of there, the better. Don't worry about Group One. The manager is probably blowing hot air, and even if she is not, you can not control her behavior anyway. Be concerned with what you can control, your own actions. Find a new job. Good luck.

I am sorry this happened to you. I don't know what group 1 & 2 are. Do you want to leave or fight to stay? Think what recourse you could have to deal with her. Document what happened, take it to HR. File your own grievance and calmly proceed. Your story and others are what is chilling about nursing. It will take stamina to take a stand with this manager. She is not an entity unto herself, upper management has the ultimate power. Employees do have rights. Nurses have rights too. The patient is NOT always right. Your record should speak for your integrity, too. Sometimes dealing with a difficult toxic manager is not worth the struggle. There are professional managers with sound judgement and integrity out there. I wish you all the best.

Start looking for work right away. She can Group One you even if you quit to be honest. There is very little regulation on those reports.
