HELP! Low Kaplan Scores, Taking NCLEX March 2011. Should I Rescedule?

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I have scored consistently low on Kaplan Q trainers and Q banks (between 48-70%, averaging at about 57%-60%). My Kaplan instructor advised me to complete Q trainer7 before about 3-4 days before I took my boards and if I got less than 65% to reschedule. I am seriously considering it. My test is 03/30, but I am nervous about rescheduling because April 2011 the standard for passing will once again be raised. What do you think? Should I reschedule or just use these 3 days to study really hard. Please help, any input would be appreciated!!!!!!!!!!

wish i could celebrate right now.. the only way to know is when, the mail comes. congrats to you.. :-)

thanks thanks;););) but have to wait for the official result first hehehe.... :lol2::lol2::lol2:

When do you honestly know that you're ready to take the Nclex, honestly? I would say take it as soon as possible. I was the first in my LPN class to test and plan to be the first in my RN class. You have to think positive.

I dont know what being first has to do with anything, but its true that you dont ever know when you're ready to take NCLEX. I waited 3 months after LPN school and 3 months after RN school, and let's just say that I'd rather over-study and over-prepare than not be prepared. I agree that thinking positive is a big part of it, as is faith and praying for me as well.

I got the good pop up from Pearson Vue, the exam cut off @ 75, and I feel GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, magnify the Lord, for HE is worthy to be praised! I can finally put RN behind my name after all these years! Thanks to everyone on the thread for ur positivity and support!

Hi WunMsJayLPNtoRN, just got back from taking the test this morning. OMGosh, it was soooooo hard. I left there for sure knowing I failed.

Came home and did the PVT, got the good pop up. I really hope its true. Praise be to God because it was Him alone who brought me through. :yeah:

WunMsJayLPNtoRN, the point I was trying to make is to do it fast. Most schools recommend to take the NCLEX RIGHT AWAY while you're still in EXAM/SCHOOL mode.

Also I THINK most people feel bad after an exam like the NCLEX because honestly, "YOU JUST DON'T KNOW UNTIL THE P/F COMES IN."

OP, fill us in on how things worked out for you. I wondering if I should do a Kaplan review course myself, so I'll be following this thread.

I dont know what you mean by right away, but the standard for everyone that graduated with me was about a month of studying minimum. Kaplan itself takes 2 weeks, and doing the Q bank questions will take at least 2 weeks. Also, being in exam mode is important but if you take Kaplan they will probably tell you that as a nurse you will live in 3 seperate worlds, in school you will be in "school world" after school you will be in "NCLEX world" where you'll have to put aside some of what you learned in school and study NCLEX style and finally "real world" when you become a nurse and start working in your field.

I am the original poster and I passed w/ 75Q. Kaplan was harder than my NCLEX exam was, and I honestly cant see where its worth the $400... BUT we all know that every test is different so it MAY help. I would love to say you should just review with a Saunders or Mosby & save your $, but we all know how tricky NCLEX can be so at least if you use Kaplan theres that money back guarantee...

I wouldn't worry too much about Kaplan scores. I scored consistantly in the 50s for all Q banks and for the 7 Q trainers. I think a 55 on Q trainer 7 and I passed on the first try with 75 questions. As long as you know your basic info and understand how to work through a question, you'll do fine.
