Im so worried! I took my hesi today and my over all grade is 88! I study for anatomy for almost a month and i only got 76. I passed it by a point. this is annoying! but my math and reading was high which pulled me up to a 88. i think 88 in not enough to guarante my acceptance also my gpa! my prereq gpa is 3.8 and my cumulative gpa 3.6. Im applying for the generic program. Im really nervous!Anyone from the program already knows if my grades are enough in order to get into the program? It is killing me! anyone else applied??
Musicmurse7,
I am applying to the accelerated program. I am too old and too broke to spend two more years in school...
Sorry to hear that you can't join the FB group, that is odd, I'm going to look into that.
At least another week to go before Nursing Department sends out the decision letters... anyone heard his/her decision early?
I've been a silent reader on these forums for 3 years or so but I decided to comment...
I am applying to the Lehman Fall 2015 Generic Nursing Program.
My Overall GPA is 3.912 (not that it matters to them :***:) and my pre-requisite GPA is 3.92. I took the HESI the first time and I unfortunately failed. I know you feel some type of way about the "retakers" but it's not as black and white for everyone. My brother died in his sleep back in September 9, 2014 and I have had insomnia ever since. I have gone to a Sleep Institute and did an overnight study in their center and everything but no avail.
The day of my HESI exam, I didn't go to sleep until 7:09 AM when I had to wake up 10AM to be at the campus to take my exam at 1PM. That's right, 2 hrs and 51 minutes of sleep to take an exam I have waited 730 loooooong days for. I did not spend that time studying because I was well prepared. I just had another no sleep day. I got a 90 on the Math Section, 90 on the Reading Section, 910 on the Critical thinking and.... a 72 on the A&P, which is 18 out 25 right but still failed. I sped home, laid out prostate on the my bedroom floor and cried for hours, didn't get out bed on Sunday until my brother said "this ridiculous, you can't let this overcome you" at 4PM. Fortunately, they allowed people who only failed 1 section to take it again in April and I passed with an 88 overall. I actually got a 100 on the Math section and I did not study again because as I said I am not one of the "want to get by" students. I graduated high school early, I never got below an A- in college and I have 79 credits. Things happen sometimes!!
The myth that you will get the same questions is 100% inaccurate. Not one of my question were the same. The A&P section was wayyyyyyyyyyyy harder! The questions were on context that my Nurse Practitioner sister said she didn't learn until her 2nd semester of Nursing School. So if you passed the first time, consider yourself blessed and please do not judge the others. We had to sit through that entire brutal 3 hour exam, pay $75 AGAIN, with the possibility of failing again!
Whew, that was a mouth full. So here I am with a 3.92 gpa and 88 on the HESI exam patiently waiting. I'll keep you guys posted :-)
yeah the 2nd retake was a lot harder. There was so many questions about muscle parts that i have never seen before. I have study the whole text book for a month before this exam and only got an 84 on the A and P part. i failed the first time because i just study from the review book and the review book doesnt cover everything you need to pass the exam.
Jodie623 I'm pretty sure you are going to get in, your HESI and GPA are good enough for accelerated program, and I'm sure it's a guaranteed for generic.
Yes, the A&P on HESI was harder than anticipated, I think it was mainly the differences between the sources of information. I'm sure I saw terms that did not appear in my A&P textbook from Lehman. Even if the "difficulty level" stays the same, there is no way that we would know the answer if we have never seen the terms before.
Sorry to hear about your insomnia, I had a similar problem so I know how painful it can be. I was lucky that it went away before I started school again.
Don't stress too much, I'm sure you got in. And I know too well this anticipation is killing us!!!
Hi everyone,
I also applied for the fall 2015 accelerated program and I'm extremely nervous.
GPA 3.8
HESI 90
I have read some of the posts from applicants years before and they all received their responses by the middle of june. I spoke to someone in the nursing department and was told that our letters would be sent out by the end of june because they are reviewing them now. I was trying to ask her a few more questions but she rushed me off of the phone. Has anyone else heard anything else about our acceptance letters? I spoke to someone that I had class with and she received her letter already and I'm not sure if we all will.
Jodie623 I'm happy everything turned out well for you in the end. With your grades you're definitely in. However in my case I don't have fabulous grades like you all but I figured i'll just put them here because there are probably people here it would be beneficial to. I passed my Hesi on the first try and got an 83 overall. 90 on the math section, 80 on the reading section, 80 on the A&P and a 790 on the critical thing. My overall pre-req gpa is a 3.56. I calculated my gpa how the nursing department would by using the back of application as a guide. The courses are weighted so i recommend you guys doing the same.
I applied to the generic program and I'm trying to be positive but reading other posts I kept seeing that 3.5 is usually the cutoff for the generic program. Knowing that you are basically at the cutting block is so nerve wracking. You guys have no idea how many times I come back to see if there are new comments.
@Chrissyby1 the person that recieved there acceptance letter applied to generic or accelerated? Based off of reading older posts I feel like its too early for anyone to hear back at this point.
chrissyby1,
Did the person that received the letter apply to the accelerated program? I'm guessing that they are sending out letters as they go during the review... and expect to finish everything by the end of June. But it would be awesome if we can get the letters before that... Do you have any clue why that person got the letter so early? Because she applied early? Or because she has a 4.0 on the pre-reqs? I'm dying to know.....

@gniamey, in the 2014 posts they said the lowest they accepted was 3.5 last year. So there's hope. Say a prayer. I applaud you for having the courage to comment. There may be someone in the future classes that has the same grades or close and you are helping to take away some of their anxiety.

The physical and CPR cert need to be done sometime in august- if im not mistaking. So, you definitely have time for that. And yes, registration is done the same day you pick up your packet so try to look up the instructors/clinicals you may want for fall ahead of time. These are the classes you'll be taking if you're in the generic: NUR 300, 301, and 344. It's possible to also take HIN 269 in the fall, however, most people just take it during the winter or summer (I seriously recommend this). I'm actually taking it in a week. It's online during the winter and summer soo... :).
