Im so worried! I took my hesi today and my over all grade is 88! I study for anatomy for almost a month and i only got 76. I passed it by a point. this is annoying! but my math and reading was high which pulled me up to a 88. i think 88 in not enough to guarante my acceptance also my gpa! my prereq gpa is 3.8 and my cumulative gpa 3.6. Im applying for the generic program. Im really nervous!Anyone from the program already knows if my grades are enough in order to get into the program? It is killing me! anyone else applied??
Jodie623 I'm pretty sure you are going to get in, your HESI and GPA are good enough for accelerated program, and I'm sure it's a guaranteed for generic.Yes, the A&P on HESI was harder than anticipated, I think it was mainly the differences between the sources of information. I'm sure I saw terms that did not appear in my A&P textbook from Lehman. Even if the "difficulty level" stays the same, there is no way that we would know the answer if we have never seen the terms before.
Sorry to hear about your insomnia, I had a similar problem so I know how painful it can be. I was lucky that it went away before I started school again.
Don't stress too much, I'm sure you got in. And I know too well this anticipation is killing us!!!
@Starvingrtist, thanks! I sure hope so. I have worked long and hard for this as I am sure all of us have. And I suffered for 8 long and brutal months of insomnia. It is know joke. But thank God I am better now.
Hi everyone, I just registered for this blog yesterday...I have been reading the lehman nursing blog since 2013. I was nervous when I started my science requirements for nursing because people told me lehman nursing was hard and competitive at my freshman orientation. But by God's grace, I successfully completed them. I also applied for the fall generic program 2015.
My GPA: 4.0
HESI: 92
I read in previous blogs that the letters are sent mostly in the 3rd week of June. Good luck everyone and thanks for your information and replies in this blog.
jodie623 your grades are pretty good! You will definitely get in.
i applied for generic too. my overall gpa is 3.72 and my science pre req is 3.84 and my hesi is 88. im really really nervous. This is the only chance i have! I came from hunter college and getting in their nursing program is really competitive. Unfortunately i didnt got accepted because my NLN was too low. applying to lehman is my planB! Hopefully i really get in! i dont really know where else i can apply and transfer to, if i dont get in to lehman!
The waiting is nerve wracking!!! hopefully we get our letters on the three week of June.
I believe that my classmate did give me the wrong info about her early admittance because I spoke with quite a few others who applied to both the accelerated and generic program and no one else has received a response yet. I know we are all worked up about being accepted but I believe that we will be ok because there were a lot of people who failed the hesi and they had to do a retake. Even after the retake they still allowed people to retake the hesi with a different proctor at a different location. I know two people that had to do this because they missed the first 2 opportunities to take the exam. I heard that this is the first time that lehman has allowed more than 2 retake opportunities. I suspect that they are concerned about the number of qualified applicants being too low. This is good for us because those that are on the borderline of the cut off has a better chance of getting in this year so I think we should be fine. The suspense is definitely killing me.
[email protected] are a strong person who succeeded despite the problems that came your way. And for your grades, you will definitely get in. I just hope there wont be a tight competition in the nursing applications.
@Musicmurse7...Don't worry and pray. With God, all things and wishes are possible. Just trust in him.. I learnt last year's cut off was 3.5. I took a HESI class this semester and two nursing students came to speak to us. One entered with a 3.8 and the other had 3.5 and 85 for hesi last year (it was her second year applying again). Don't worry, your HESI and GPA is good..
@jennifer1015..Your grades are also good with your HESI. I didnt apply to any school because my recommendations letters were late. Just have faith guys. I know we will all get in..
@gniamey,How were you able to calculate your gpa? I'm just using my major gpa from the cuny blackboard audit, but it's not accurate because it includes my grade from HIN 268. This grade is not used when the nursing department calculates the prerequisite gpa.
This is the link to the application. http://lehman.edu/academics/health-human-services-nursing/nursing/documents/application-bs-nursing-generic-accelerated_000.pdf The bottom portion of last page is where the nursing department would calculate your GPA themselves. I used their formula and calculated mines on a separate sheet. As you can see the Bio classes are weighted more
I know without a doubt you're getting in. Hopefully, we'll be in the same pathway together as I have also applied for the generic program. I have the option to do the accelerated program because I hold a bachelor's degree. However, I opted to do the 2 year program because it's less condensed and it will enable me to work part-time. In addition, doing the generic program will enable me to do nurse externships (offered during the summer for nursing students). This will get me in the door of the hospital and possibly doing a nurse residency program. It is best to seek opportunities now before graduation because landing a RN job in NY is very difficult (especially if you're a new nurse).

@Chrissyby1 hunny, I think your classmate is lying. It is only the 6th of June and our grades were just submitted last week. They have to sit down and go through all the grades of all the applicants. I doubt she is the exception. And your grades are great! The wait will so be over..
