Im so worried! I took my hesi today and my over all grade is 88! I study for anatomy for almost a month and i only got 76. I passed it by a point. this is annoying! but my math and reading was high which pulled me up to a 88. i think 88 in not enough to guarante my acceptance also my gpa! my prereq gpa is 3.8 and my cumulative gpa 3.6. Im applying for the generic program. Im really nervous!Anyone from the program already knows if my grades are enough in order to get into the program? It is killing me! anyone else applied??

If you're on FB, join the "Lehman College Nursing" group for news, updates and information.

Thanks for the info I will do my calculations now!

Thanks Jennifer and Styliah! Glad to see so many of us are Christians, my faith has carried me a long way. Indeed, with God all things are possible!

To anyone who doesn't get in. Try LIU Brooklyn...

Pros

1. They accepted me on the spot (even though I didn't take the TEAS [yet])!

2. They waived my application fee because I went on a "Transfer Tuesday."

3. They accepted ALL my classes, even my two LEH 300 classes, I was like....! Hahaha.

4. I was immediately accepted into the Clinical Phase of the Nursing Program for FALL 2015 and got a tour of the Nursing floor and it's very nice.

5. I was told I could receive $15,000 in scholarship. $2,000 for transfer merit and I think the other $13,000 was for my GPA being high.

6. I was only required to pass the TEAS exam not try and get a high score. They accepted me and they said my spot was secure as long as I pass it.

Cons

1. I live in the Bronx and it's in Brooklyn. They commute is only 1 hour though, so it's doable.

2. They require Algebra, but they were allowing me to take a CLEP exam which is $140 (80 for the exam and 60 for testing fee), to opt of the class.

3.The tuition is high, $33,000, I think

4. They also require speech but I took the in Monroe College while I was in High School but maybe there's a CLEP for that, or they could pull some strings.

Now this was back in March, not sure if they are still accepting application. But it's worth a try.

Regarding the GPA calculation and the formula in the nursing application, bio classes do not weight more. (They actually weight less than Chem)

Those different numbers are simply the amount of credits they are worth IF you took them in Lehman College. Most colleges only offer 1 credit chemistry labs, but Lehman's chem lab is 1.5 credits. So in reality, Chem is actually worth 4.5 credits because it's lecture + lab. Bio courses with 4 credits are already including the lecture and lab together.

The GPA calculation should be changed accordingly depending on where you took the equivalent courses and how many credits they are worth. In most colleges the Chem and Bio are all worth 4 credits each (lecture + lab). Only in Lehman, as far as I know, that Chem has 4.5 credits.

Your're right. I didn't look at it that way. Since there all calculated separately I saw that bio would be weighted more. Combining Chem lab and lecture is obviously more. Sorry about the misinformation guys.

In regards to how Lehman weights their science courses:

Bio is worth more than chem because Lehman weighs chem lecture and Chem lab differently that's why you get two separate grades for it. I thought it was weird but when I took organic chem the professor said many colleges do it that way. Hence, that's why on the nursing application, there's a grade calculator for the chem labs but not for the biology courses.

I applied to the accelerated program.. My cumulative GPA from my first degree is 3.0, my science GPA is 4.0, and I got a 92.67 on the HESI (100 Math, 94 Reading, 84 A & P didn't review enough for that section, 880 Critical Thinking). This is the only program I applied to so I'm reeeeally hoping I get in. I spoke to the Nursing dept and they said decisions will be sent by the end of June. A few months ago, an advisor in the dept told me they start sending them out in mid-June. Good luck to everyone! I can't imagine that there aren't enough qualified applicants this year when everyone here has such stellar grades and scores. Very nervous about the competition!

I called today and they told me they're sending out decisions this week. I'm so confused :(

@giselle4,

You're absolutely right, I spoke to the nursing department today and they informed me that the letters would be sent out this week so we all should be receiving a response by the beginning of next week.

Giselle4,

Many were told that the decision letters are mailed out during the end of June, and others were told that the letters are being sent out as we speak.

I'm naturally a pessimist so I would rather believe the end of June timeline; just so I won't be so disappointed when letters don't show up by the end of this week. However, the new timeline was obtained from the office this week, I think that's more up to date and more reliable than the old timeline.

In any case, we just gotta wait. I pray for the letters to show up this week...

Hi guys, I'm in the nursing department right now..It's really annoying here with long queues, waiting, about 2 advisors..Anyway, our letters will be mailed this week..The woman in the front desk is packaging letters in many envelopes with the lehman logo..She said we will get them this week or next week

..Good luck everyone...

Hey guys,

I heard that Lehman is sending out rejection letters first along with an email. They should be arriving to the applicants this week. I also heard that the acceptance letters with complementary emails are being send next week. In any event, we all should be hearing something within a two-week time frame.
