Im so worried! I took my hesi today and my over all grade is 88! I study for anatomy for almost a month and i only got 76. I passed it by a point. this is annoying! but my math and reading was high which pulled me up to a 88. i think 88 in not enough to guarante my acceptance also my gpa! my prereq gpa is 3.8 and my cumulative gpa 3.6. Im applying for the generic program. Im really nervous!Anyone from the program already knows if my grades are enough in order to get into the program? It is killing me! anyone else applied??
StarvingRtist,If you're completely set on going the accelerated route then i would keep pressing the issue. They never get applications with 20+ students having a 4.0 GPA and a 92+ score on the hesi. Call their bluff and tell them you know people who got in with less than that. If you have to go beyond them then do so. Speak to the dean of students affair and tell them that your application wasn't given a proper review. Don't let the matter drop if this is really the route you want to go.
Thanks ahreeol, your suggestion is great. I'm just having a bunch of other stuff taken into consideration at the moment. I'll wait and see if they give me any "official" decision first, since they told me to wait for a response (maybe they already put me on the wait list for accelerated).
Generic is really not bad, in fact I would prefer it more than accelerated if I had the time and money. It gives students more time to do well and the opportunities for volunteer/internship and maybe even part time jobs.
Getting hired is really all about who you know these days. My friend who was the valedictorian from his nursing school cannot get a job while people who barely passed got offers before they even graduated; all because of who they know. Of course some of those were done illegally, but there's really nothing we can do about it unless we are ready to burn the bridges.
My heart was really set on the accelerated but generic may turn out a better choice for me, we'll see.
Hey guys,
I received my acceptance letter to the generic program the 17th. I emailed Shannon Young and I also faxed the department my confirmation letter, but I have yet to receive anything back from them, neither the packet nor any email saying they got it. So, I'm planning on going there this Monday or at least calling and inquire about the situation.
Has anyone gotten anything back from them? If so, how did you send your confirmation letter?
GPA: 3.8
Hesi: 85
Critical Thinking: 810
I called again this morning to confirm if I was on a waiting list and unfortunately I found out I was rejected. I thought that I had a 3.56 science gpa but I had a 3.63 instead. I don't know how to feel about it because my GPA is the same of those who got in. I made that case when speaking to her but she told me there were about 320 applications and only had 70 seats saying that most of the students had 4.0 gpas. The only way i think that it would make sense is if they factor in your cumulative GPA in the admission process but then again i'm not sure. I currently stand at a 3.19 which isn't good. I'll apply again next year but focus on strengthening my overall gpa this year and see where that takes me. However nothing will be confirmed for me unless i have that rejection letter in my hand.
For future applicants i would suggest not solely depending on your science gpa to get you in. Try being an all-around strong candidate.
For Reference :
Hesi : 83
Science GPA : 3.63
Cum. GPA : 3.19
Congrats to all you who got in :)
