There's not much for LPN jobs where I am in Tampa Bay either.
I'm working doing H1N1 shots for the health department through a recruiter.
Check with the local health department and see if they're in need of additional nurses for the H1N1 clinics.
I'm glad I'm starting the RN program in May. I'll be looking for a job in or out of state when I graduate.
I completely understand your frustration. I moved to Ft. Lauderdale in July. I received my FL nursing license(I'm from TN which isn't a compact state) in September and have been looking for a job ever since. I'm considering trying out a staffing agency but I don't know anything about them! Best of luck in your search!
There seem to be jobs in other parts of FL, no jobs in south FL (Broward/Miami/Palm). I'm a nurse practitioner in ft. laud area, been looking since Sept as well. I get job interview offers (like 2-4 per month) in areas like Naples, Melbourne, Ocala, Jacksonville, Tally but don't have the freedom to move. I've worked with oodles of recruiters and NONE have gotten me a job. Applying to the hiring company directly is what has gotten me job interviews.
Hey LPN's or even RN's.......if you live in the Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda/Arcadia area of FL my job is hiring. It's in a Correctional type setting not a hospital. If you aren't afraid of the Correctional Nursing type job contact me. I can put you into contact with my agency and you could be working in less than 2 weeks.
I am a RN and love my job at this facility but that's me. Send me an email and I will give you more info.

It always seems like wherever you go, you will hear that there is a nursing shortage. But yet, Ive been searching for a full time job for months now to no avail. Im not sure what the problem is. Ive been an LPN for over 4 years now and have been looking high and low. There are more jobs for medical assistants because they pay them at lower rate and then train them to do the job of a LPN. It seems like the LPNs role is disappearing. I even know of many RNS who come out of school and cant find a job either. This is very bad especially when you invest time and money into school thinking that you are guaranteeing yourself a secure career and that has not been the case in florida.
