Help! I studied LPN over 8 years ago and didn't take my state boards.

Nurses LPN/LVN

Is it too crazy to take state boards now? Even if I miraculously pass, where can I get clinical refresher course?

In many cases, your state board website will have links to nurse refresher courses. Good luck!

I don't think it would be insane to take the exam; it just makes me curious...what were the circumstances that led to the delay? I ask this because you are actually the 3rd person I heard of that had this situation. Not sure where you can get a refresher course, either, however, I hear that you can ask your state BON. Best wishes!!

Wouldn't you have to go back to school and retrain? Up here if you don't write within one year of graduation you are ineligible..

I would check with your state's board of nursing to make sure that you are still eligible to take the state boards. If you allowed 8 years to elapse before attempting to take the state boards, most places would require you to start from scratch and retake a nursing program all over again. I live in Texas, where applicants can take their state boards an unlimited number of times for up to 4 years after their graduation date. 8 years is really pushing the envelope to the point that a refresher course is out of the question if you were never licensed to begin with.
