Help! I need some advise

Published

Hi All,

I am currently living in New Hampshire. I am an LNA and am working towards RN. I have taken all the pre-req classes in New Hampshire and now I need to move back to Massachusetts. I'd like to continue my schooling (rotations and such) there. Can someone tell me if all the classes I have taken here are transferable to MA? I have attempted many times to get this answer from many advisors and professionals and no one will give me a straight answer. Does anyone have any experience with such a thing?

I can not understand why you can not get a straight answer from the admissions personnel at schools you are interested in. Do an online search for nursing schools near where you are moving to. See what the Schools of Nursing have published in their catalogs and take it from there. Even if you have started in a nursing school you should be able to find out if a particular school will accept you and where you would stand in their program. People transfer schools all the time. It's not impossible.

Your pre-reqs should be transferable... its the nursing courses that are harder to transfer. But as caliotter said, people do it all the time and its not impossible! Maybe you could make an appt with an advisor at a school you are looking to transfer to and speak to them in person? Good luck!

It's up to the college you're applying to to decide which credits to accept. Some are more leinient tha others. I atended Franklin Pierce in NH in 1995. Whn I applied at Cape Cod Community College in 2003, I found out they would accept my English and Sociology credits. Not my Math, because they didn't accept anything below a C.

The reason you may not be getting a straight answer right away is because schols usually won't accept any crdits until you "matriculate", a fancy word that basicaly meas you've become a student ad are tking classes there. The they'll decide which credits to take, depending on their standards. It's really all about the money. They don't want to give you credits until they're sure their gonna be getting some money out of you!

The way I got around this was by talking ro the admissions counselor. She couldn't promise anything, but she was able to give me a good idea of what credits they'd take. She ended up being right on the money.

You need to get a copy of official transcrips with the schools descriptions of courses and take them to the school you are interested in and they should be able to evaluate them.

Where are you moving to in Ma?

If you call an admissions counselor at the school you think you want then they can look at your transcript. good luck!

I live in MA and am getting my bsn from Rivier in NH.
