About 3 weeks ago I woke up with severe vertigo. Never had anything like it before. Was put on a anti-inflammatory and Antivert. Stayed home for a few days util I could navigate again. Now, this morning, I am dizzy (not as bad as it was). I have had a EKG, lab tests, no sign of ear problems, no pain, no head-ache, blood pressure is fine.
Have any of u ever had this??? what did u do??? A lot of people are saying its stress related.
Advise please.
Thanks.

I had similar problems. I was consuming a lot of Splenda at the time. That stuff can be nasty. Are you you eating any of that?
I have something called idiopathic benign postural vertigo - I'll get dizzy as all get out for a day or two with no logical cause and then it gets better. Those exercises cited above are *great* - they make me seriously dizzy for a little while after I do them, but then it gets a ton better.
I had vertigo last summer....nasty stuff
My doc had my husband sit me on the side of the bed and then SLAM me to one side, sit me back up, and SLAM me to the other side. Something about those crystals another poster mentioned. Methinks hubby enjoyed it entirely too much :chuckle
I also would focus on some stationary object, then vigorously shake my head and then focus on the object again. It was a "retraining" exercise to get my brain to ignore the dizzy signals.
Good luck with your healing
I am not a regular in this forum, I usually just read the student boards. Are you female? If so, what age group? Only reason I ask is because my mother started having vertigo and then occasional migranes when she started menopause. They ran tons of tests and could never figure out the cause, ever since she completely stopped having her periods (was a few years ago) she has not had any dizzy spells or headaches. So the docs ended up blaming it on hormonal issues.
hope you figure this out.

Oh and Splenda has been tested literally to death with no evidence that it causes any problems at all!
Yes, Splenda has been tested "literally to death" and has been found to cause a host of problems. It was thought that the Chlorine added to it is fairly inert (after all, table salt has chlorine in it) and not metabolized by the liver, but studies have shown that some people are, in fact, metabolizing the Chlorine (one study done in Japan found that up to 40% of people that were in the study metabolized it and experience a bizarre range of adverse effects). Many people have found some of their symptoms are mimicking Multiple Sclerosis and/or Vertigo.
I have tried out Splenda on 6 different occasions (I tried it so many times because I just couldn't believe that this would be the cause of it) and each time I became very dizzy and had peripheral neuropathy. This is just my own personal experience with it.
This sounds like something I went through earlier this year. I had a severe case of dizziness/lightheadedness for weeks, and the doctors still aren't sure what it could have been. I had an EKG, Stressecho, head CT, and an ear test, and everything came back okay. I was given Antivert, and it didn't help at all. I haven't been sick at all in the past year, except for that. I feel better now, but I still feel a little queasy now and then. I hope you have better luck than I did in finding out what the problem could be. :)
I wish you luck finding out what the problem is. I had horrible attacks of vertigo last time I flew, and it got worse after my return flight. I've had middle ear problems in the past, and had tubes as a kid, and flying still bothers my ears, but I'd never had vertigo.
Antivert did not help, and after 3 weeks of vertigo and vomiting due to it, I saw an ENT. A hearing test did reveal some partial hearing loss in my left ear, but he was just so nasty about it all, claiming is was NOT vertigo, but dizziness I was experiencing. His explanation of the difference went right over my head, even though I researched it. He knew I was a nursing student, and I think purposely trying to talk "above" me.
Anyway, it went away after another few weeks, but now I'm really scared to fly. If I must, I'm going to try and see a different ENT this time, and try decongestant beforehand (thought I'm a bad flyer, and need Xanax or Valium to even step ON the plane!). I had done the silicone "tubes" for flying, but those actually made it worse, and I could feel my ear actually closing around them during descent. Scary.

Maybe you have done this in the doc's office. Have someone in front of you ready to catch you. Stand with your feet together, arms streched out to your sides and eyes closed. Good test for labyrinthitis, an inner eye issue, associated with Meniere's disease.
