HELP! I CAN'T FIND A JOB as a NEW GRAD RN

U.S.A. New York

Published

I've had my RN license for about 2 weeks and cant seem to find a job in the hospital. I have applied and literally talked to the Nursing Recruitment office at the VA who said Med-Surg was Full! Bellevue who said it takes 4-6 weeks to get a call back so jus drop off your resume. At NY Ear & Eye Infirmary who said jus drop off your resume at the Front Desk, Beth Israel & Lenox Hill said to wait and NYU & Columbia want BSNs.

I had interviews at two non-profit Clinics in the LES who pay ok but its a supervisor position as a new grad I need to get my feet wet!

So tell me where do I find a NYC hospital job as a new grad??

Hi MrsCrypes, I graduated from BMCC 5/08 and passed NCLEX 10/3/08. I have not found a job yet. I am very interested in VNSNY internship program. How do you like the program? What are some of the pros and cons?

HHC is not hiring right now! We have a few hospitals closed last year and 7 others in N.J.! Money is also an issue right now! I remember 4 years ago, when I just got my license, there were so many jobs--more than all the fingers I have in both hands. It is not the same anymore! Don't get discouraged! My friend waited 4 months and Brookdale called her. It will take a while right now!

This is to the person that said that employers look at your grades, in which they do not unless you as the applicant give them to them. Which I don't see the point because grades are not an issue and you do not receive a grade on the NCLEX. It's either a pass or a fail

hey how long does it take lij or nsuh to call back for an interview???

Hi mediabandits, are you a new grad or an experience RN? I'm a new grad (May 08)and I have not had a single interview, call back or offer yet.:bluecry1:

I went to promed website but it wasn't clear if they're interested in New Grads.

omg it takes forever and they dont even call you if you didn't get the position, i interviewd on dec 18 for a position the woman finally called me yesterday and said that .. it went well and they liked me but there are no avialable positions i dont even know what that means but i know some people have had it take longer because lij is such a huge system they really take their sweet ass time.

i graduated may and i took my nclex in september. I cant seem to find a job!!! I applied to everything even if I dont meet the requirements. I went to a two year nursing school. Most hospitals in ny want a 4 year degree. I applied to most hospitals in nyc, brooklyn, long island, and queens. No one seems to call back. The only replies I get are from LIJ and it's just to tell me that I dont meet the requirements. How can I get experience if no one really wants to hire new grads? Helpppp does any one know of any hospitals that need nurses who are new grads??
