Nursing Students General Students

HELLO, WORLD, IF ANYONE WOULD KINDLY SHARE ADVICE OR EXPERIENCE REGARDING WHEN TO TAKE MICROBIOLOGY AND ANATOMY/PHYSIOLOGY FOR MY NURSING PREREQUISITES, AT MY CAMPUS ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY IS JOINTED AS ONE CLASS, MY IDEAL PLAN IS TO TAKE BOTH CLASSES IN ONE SEMESTER AND ONE HUMANITIES COURSE WHAT DO U GUYS THINK? ? Anyone Thanks! !

I took them together. It required a lot of studying. If you are a strong student, go for it! You can also drop a class after a couple classes if you decide it's going to be too much.

I took A&P 2, micro, statistics, comp 2, and an honors philosophy class all in one semester and got all As. You'll be fine, just study hard. :)

edit: and a part time job the second half of the semster, not to brag or anything ;) nursing school is a lot of material packed into a pretty short time, you're gonna need to get used to it. Best of luck!

Its totally do able if you dedicate the time to study. I had micro with a&p 1, nutrition, college algebra and I manage almost As except maybe algebra which I currently have an A but final can change it. So if you can study hard more than 20 hours a week you can do it.

Hi!

I actually took these classes together! I took micro, combined A&P and a speech class during my last spring semester. I am not going to lie, micro and A&P are both very demanding classes. You should make sure that the third class you are taking is very easy, which was the case for me with speech. I basically studied the whole time and did well in all 3 classes, so it is not impossibleif you are willing to spend most of your time studying.

Good luck!

I am just finishing up taking them both at the same time and I survived. I also have a toddler and took 2 other courses at the same time. If you are organized, you will succeed. Both classes are extremely time consuming and in order to get A's you will have to study unless you have took similar courses it will be material that you are not familiar with.

I can't remember if these classes require it, but I would suggest taking a general biology class or two semesters of it first. This will give you a much stronger background and improve your chances of success in pretty much all your science prerequisites as well as your core nursing classes.

You realize not all college courses are created equal? Your micro is probably nothing like the micro I took. These questions would be best if taken to campus and not a board of individuals from all over.

I agree with this poster. We cannot offer insight as to what you can handle, only what we've been able to handle. However, you are not us. See if you can connect with students at your school to inquire about these classes, the teachers, and the assignments. I can tell you how my A&P and micro classes were, but I guarantee they'll be totally different from yours. For example, when I took micro the teacher was wonderful, narrowed down the material to exactly what we needed to know, we had a project and that was about it for major assignments. I had a few friends take micro at a sister community college and they had 20 page study guides from the teacher with no direction on what material to focus on, and had several 20 page page reports throughout the semester. Our experiences could not have been more different. Look inside yourself to determine what you can handle, and find students who have taken the classes at your school to see what you're in for. Best of luck in whichever route you choose!

I just finished micro, A&P II, and stats in one semester and received an A in all of them... I also have a 3 year old and a 1 year old at home to care for. The work is doable if you are organized and focused. I also made sure to pick professors that were excellent and I never missed class. I stayed up late and woke up early and got it done.. You can do it if you really manage your time and you are determined!! Good luck to you!
